The Boston Celtics won against the Philadelphia 76ers 95-86 to take Game 6 of their 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Sixers, forcing a Game 7 on their own home court of TD Garden on Thursday night. Star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum contributed 16 points in the final frame of the game after going 1-of-14 over the first three quarters, saving the team from negative narratives we were sure to hear had they lost.
Veteran point guard Marcus Smart was the game’s MVP, with his excellent defensive impact, timely shots, and good decisions. The team’s starting five looked rejuvenated with Robert Williams III back in the starting lineup and keeping the 76ers on their toes. This victory was a team effort, but Tatum’s performance was for the ages.
Host of the CLNS Media “Winning Plays” podcast Brian Robb and guest Souichi Terada (both of MassLive) break down a gritty Celtics Game 6 win.
They cover Tatum’s late heroics, early struggles, the stellar play of Smart, the impact of the starting lineup shift, and what other chess moves are left heading into Game 7.
Be sure to take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say about the season-saving victory.
