Celtics alum Shane Larkin signs 2-season extension with Turkish EuroLeague champs Efes

Larkin will have a clause to return to the NBA if he chooses, but given the success he is having abroad, we do not expect him to use it.

While there were a fair amount of reunions on the Boston Celtics this year with a number of familiar faces from Al Horford and Daniel Theis all the way back to Joe Johnson making appearances in green and white to play for Boston in the 2021-22 season.

But while it would not be impossible thanks to a clause in a new extension (first reported by Ismail Senol of beIN SPORTS) that would allow him to return to the NBA, Celtics alumnus Shane Larkin is not very likely to make use of that clause given how well he’s been doing with his current team, Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Efes — as they are called for short — has won the last two EuroLeague titles with Larkin as their primary star, the Miami product enjoying a level of stardom unlikely to become available to him in the NBA.

Larkin’s extension will keep him employed by Efes until the end of the 2023-24 season assuming the 29-year-old floor general does not elect to exercise the termination clause that would let him make the leap back to the Association.
