The Boston Celtics have one of the deepest six or seven-man rotations in the NBA for 2023-24. Brad Stevens acquired two new All-Star players this summer, with Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday joining the team. Holiday is expected to help ease the pain of Marcus Smart‘s departure earlier in the offseason.
Fortunately for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum is excited to play with the former NBA champion. During a recent interview with NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg, Tatum discussed what Holiday can bring to the Celtics. The All-NBA forward noted how Holiday is “One of the most respected” players in the NBA.
“Jrue is one of the most respected guys in the league, somebody that I was on the USA team with (and) won a gold medal,” Tatum said. “So I know him pretty well. So, extremely excited and happy to have him. Obviously (he’s) one of the best two-way guys the league has seen.”
Holiday will undertake a different role than what he comprised for the Milwaukee Bucks. Boston had three All-Star offensive weapons: Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Porzingis.

As such, Holiday may take some time to find a rhythm in his new surroundings. However, once the veteran ball-handler becomes accustomed to his role, he will undoubtedly become a key member of Boston’s rotation.
Judging by Holiday’s reputation around the NBA, is probably safe to assume Tatum isn’t the only member of the roster to be excited by his addition.
