The NFL Draft is here and at what better time could it be.
NFL teams will be conducting the draft from their homes or secured places in the first virtual draft amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Players who are being selected will also be watching from home, but 58 players have allowed the NFL access to their small draft parties and will be participants in the virtual draft—which includes four Oklahoma players.
Only the first-round will take place on Thursday night. Two Sooners are locked into being selected tonight.
On NFL Draft day every year, I take a look at six mock drafts—Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, WalterFootball, Dane Bruglar of the Athletic, Lance Zierlien of NFL.com and Todd McShay of ESPN (who did not release a final mock draft). Those six have churned out consistent results year-to-year, and the consensus is CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray are going to be taken in the first round.
Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock seem to have been enamored with Lamb from the start. Four of the five mock drafts have the star wide receiver being selected with the No. 12 pick. Las Vegas still has Derek Carr at quarterback and have budding star Josh Jacobs at running back.
For Murray, there really is no clear cut consensus. Two of them have Murray going at No. 28 to the Baltimore Ravens, but the other three range from No. 16 in a trade with Arizona to No. 24 to the New Orleans Saints. It seems as if Murray is graded much higher on some teams boards than others.
The NFL Draft is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
