CBS Sports sends Vikings and Justin Jefferson top receiver prospect

Getting Jefferson a top-flight wide receiver on the other side needs to be a priority

The Minnesota Vikings and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah have been busy this offseason, releasing longtime veterans Eric Kendricks and Adam Theilen, leaving many fans wondering what their plan is to fill these holes.

One option is to look at the draft. On Friday, Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports released his latest mock draft and had the Vikings selecting TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston.

With the recent release of wide receiver Theilen, the Vikings now have a huge void in the wide receiver room. Drafting a player like Johnston could not only help replace what was lost with Thielen’s departure, but it also gives Justin Jefferson a running mate for the foreseeable future.

Johnston is a big-bodied wide receiver who has great speed and body control for his size. He is efficient at running most routes, although he could probably work to expand his route tree. Overall, he’s one of the top receivers in this draft class and could easily be a team’s top weapon.

Putting him alongside Jefferson could give the Vikings a dynamic tandem in Minnesota, and it’ll only make life easier for whoever is playing quarterback.
