Without a first-round pick at the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, many expect that Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins will no longer become a member of the Bills. Those two were pegged by many draft analysts as a match at pick No. 22. Now that pick belongs to the Vikings and the Bills have Stefon Diggs.
Despite Diggs’ addition, one CBS Sports mock draft says it’s possible Higgins falls to the Bills in the second round at pick No. 54, and Buffalo nabs him there:
With many of the top corners and edge rushers unavailable, the Bills ironically land Higgins in Round 2 after the two were paired often in Round 1.
Higgins is ranked anywhere from a late first to an early second round pick by many draft analysts. He could be ranked higher, but in one of the deeper draft classes in recent memory, Higgins falling into the second round wouldn’t be the most shocking thing. But him falling to the Bills way down in the second round certainly would be.
Higgins, at 6-foot-4, has the physical makings of an NFL wideout. But players of that size are typically overdrafted, not underdrafted. However, because of that exact size, he’d be a perfect pick for the Bills in Round 2.
Diggs is certainly still going to the Bills’ No. 1 receiver in a scenario with the Higgins to Buffalo, but the pair could be groomed into Josh Allen’s long-term playmakers. John Brown and Cole Beasley will still be the short-term providers for Allen, but they’re both 30-plus next season. Plus, non of the Bills’ current receiver trio has much size, even if Diggs has excellent contest catch ability.
