CBS Sports’ final college football rankings has Florida just outside top 10

Florida football found itself on the outside looking in on the top 10 teams in the nation, coming in at No. 11 according to CBS Sports.

The final tallies are in from the various sports media outlets across the nation, with publications giving their final takes on the 2020 college football season. Among those chiming in this week was CBS Sports, which published its final top 25 rankings on Thursday to close the books on its internal poll.

The Florida Gators found themselves on the outside looking in on the top 10 teams in the nation, coming in at No. 11 according to staff writer Chip Patterson. UF sits behind three other Southeastern Conference teams in the standings, with the Alabama Crimson Tide ranked No. 1, while the Texas A&M Aggies came in at No. 6 and the Georgia Bulldogs earned the No. 7 spot. No other SEC school earned a mention in CBS Sports’ top 25.

Patterson offered this brief breakdown of his publication’s picks.

So it comes as no surprise that Alabama finishes as the No. 1 team in our CBS Sports 127, the comprehensive ranking of all FBS teams that played this season, with Ohio State checking in at No. 2, Clemson at No. 3 and Notre Dame at No. 4. With all the bowls in the books as a final data point for many teams, there was consistent support for Oklahoma‘s strong finish with a two-spot bump up to No. 5 and a late boost for Georgia to No. 7 thanks to handing Cincinnati, now at No. 8, its first loss of the season in the Peach Bowl.

Here is a look at the full top 25 rankings.
