CBB Expert predicts when Alabama’s NCAA Tournament run will end

Alabama’s March Madness run is expected to be cut very, very short.

The Alabama men’s basketball team has had an extremely rocky 2021-2022 season. Despite defeating three of last season’s Final Four teams, the Crimson Tide fails to consistently be a strong and competitive team.

Now, in the NCAA Tournament, it’s win or go home.

As a No. 6 seed in the West Region, Alabama will open up play in the round of 64 against either Notre Dame or Rutgers – those two will play each other on Thursday, with the winner entering the tournament as a No. 11 seed.

Jay Bilas, ESPN’s college basketball expert, made his picks for the opening round of games. In the Crimson Tide’s contest, he has Rutgers as the opponent.

Bilas is quick to predict an upset.

“Winner: Rutgers. If the “good Alabama” shows up, the Tide can roll the Scarlet Knights. But Rutgers is tougher. This is an upset worth taking, because the seeds are off here. Take Rutgers.”

It’s worth noting that Bilas gave Alabama due credit: if the good version of the Crimson Tide shows up, then Rutgers may not even be a bump in the road en route to the next round.

However, if the bad Alabama team shows up, they can make Rutgers look like a contender to win it all.
