CB Antonio Hamilton to miss at least 4 games after cooking accident

The Cardinals place their recently named No. 2 cornerback on NFI after he got hurt in a cooking accident. He will miss at least four games.

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antonio won the No. 2 starting cornerback job in training camp but will now miss at least the first four games of the season. The Cardinals are placing him on the non-football injury list, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

He apparently suffered an injury related to a cooking accident at his home.

After the Cardinals’ second preseason game, he missed practice in Glendale and did not make the trip to Nashville for the team’s joint practice and final preseason game when he had a doctor’s appointment.

Moving him to non-football injury list will open a roster spot. He must miss at least four games, so the first week he will be eligible to return is in Week 5 when the Cardinals host the Philadelphia Eagles.

It is unfortunate this happened. A journeyman who has played mostly special teams in the NFL, he finally broke through and won a job, only to now not be able to play.

While he is out, second-year cornerback Marco Wilson is expected to start opposite Byron Murphy and the No. 3 job will likely be newly acquired Traynon Mullen Jr.
