Titans training camp: News, notes, video from first practice with Bucs

The Titans and Bucs held their first of two joint practices on Wednesday.

Ahead of their Preseason Week 2 matchup on Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium, the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are holding a pair of joint practices in Florida, with the first taking place on Wednesday.

This is the first joint practice either team has held since 2019, as the sessions weren’t allowed league-wide in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The joint practices will be a great measuring stick for the Titans with the Bucs beinge Super Bowl champions and having one of the most talented rosters in the NFL.

Unfortunately, the Bucs won’t be deploying their starters in the actual game, as Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians revealed earlier this week. Still, the practices will be enough to gauge where Tennessee is right now, especially on defense.

After Wednesday’s session, the Titans and Bucs will meet again on Thursday for the second practice. Here’s the news, notes and video from Day 1.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Nissan Stadium practice

News, notes, video and presser highlights from the Titans’ night practice at Nissan Stadium.

The Tennessee Titans had a change of scenery for their 14th practice of training camp, as the team took the field for an open session at Nissan Stadium on Monday night that included the presence of fans.

Ahead of the practice, the Titans made a flurry of roster moves — eight of them to be exact.

The team agreed to terms with safeties Clayton Geathers and Bradley McDougald, and linebacker Nick Dzubnar.

In addition, the team waived tight end Deon Yelder, defensive back Reggie Floyd, 2021 UDFA and punter James Smith, and defensive back Maurice Smith (injured). They also placed cornerback Kevin Peterson on IR.

While there were several big names participating in Tennessee’s first night practice of the year, a grand total of 12 players were absent.

We’ll go over those names and all of the rest of the important news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights in our latest training camp recap.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Day 13 of practice

News, notes and video from the Titans’ 13th practice of training camp.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field on Sunday afternoon for their 13th session of training camp, and their first after the Preseason Week 1 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.

Some good news to report, as tight end Geoff Swaim finally returned. He was in the midst of the longest absence of any player from Titans camp after not having seen the field since July 29.

The Titans player experiencing the longest current absence is wide receiver Julio Jones, who has not been a participant since Aug. 2. Jones was working on a side field, however.

Along with Swaim, cornerback Elijah Molden, right guard Nate Davis and outside linebacker Harold Landry also returned. There was no sighting of center Ben Jones, who has missed a handful of practices in a row, or defensive lineman Denico Autry or offensive lineman Kendall Lamm.

Two players who were injured in the preseason opener, kicker Tucker McCann and running back Darrynton Evans, did not take the field as well.

Take a look at the rest of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from the Titans’ 13th practice of training camp.

Titans training camp: News, notes and video from Day 12 of practice

The Titans had their first afternoon practice of training camp on Wednesday.

On a hot, sunny day, and with the temperature in the mid 90’s, the Tennessee Titans hit the practice field for their 12th session of 2021 training camp, which was also the first afternoon practice of the year.

This practice will be the last one the Titans have ahead of their preseason opener on Friday, which will take place in Atlanta against the Falcons, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CDT.

Not practicing for the Titans on Wednesday: Julio Jones, A.J. Brown, Nate Davis, Ben Jones, Kendall Lamm, Dane Cruikshank and Elijah Molden.

There really wasn’t much of note from practice. The Titans went half speed in the work they did do, and most of it was situational. Not surprising to see a toned-down practice with the preseason contest coming on Friday.

Here’s the rest of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Tennessee’s last session before Week 1 of the preseason.

A.J. Brown returned to Titans practice on Tuesday.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field on Tuesday for their 11th session of 2021 training camp. The team will have its first night practice on Wednesday, and then will head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in the preseason opener on Friday.

Some key players weren’t spotted at Wednesday’s practice, including outside linebacker Harold Landry, wide receiver Julio Jones, center Ben Jones, right guard Nate Davis, tackle Kendall Lamm, tight end Geoff Swaim and defensive lineman Denico Autry.

Julio, Davis, Lamm, Swaim and Autry were all spotted on stationary bikes. Swaim hasn’t practiced since July 29. Returning to practice was wide receiver A.J. Brown, who was wearing a sleeve on his knee.

After practice, offensive coordinator Todd Downing said “I have absolutely zero concern about A.J. (Brown),” per WKRN’s Emily Proud. Brown was not limited in the session.

Now, the good stuff: all of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from the 11th practice of training camp.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Day 10 of practice

All of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Day 10 of Titans training camp.

The Tennessee Titans enjoyed an off day from practice on Sunday, but were back in action on Monday morning in what was their 10th session of 2021 training camp.

Last week was a big one for the Titans, and namely their defense, as 2021 first-round pick and cornerback, Caleb Farley, and outside linebacker, Bud Dupree, both made their practice debuts for Tennessee.

Looking ahead to this coming week, we’re keeping an eye on the progression of both players as they continue to be ramped up to full participation. We’re also looking forward to the Titans’ preseason debut on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

Ahead of practice, the Titans released their first unofficial depth chart of 2021. You can check that out here, and our biggest takeaways from it here.

Now, the reason you came here in the first place: all of the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Titans training camp, Day 10.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Day 9 of practice

A recap of the Titans’ ninth training camp practice of 2021.

The Tennessee Titans took part in their ninth practice of 2021 training camp on Saturday. The team will be off on Sunday before returning to the field on Monday.

Friday was another big day for the Titans, as the team saw its biggest free-agent acquisition of the offseason, outside linebacker Bud Dupree, take part in his first practice after being activated off the PUP list.

Dupree, who is working his way back from a torn ACL, was out there once again on Saturday as the Titans continue to ramp him up towards full participation in practice down the road.

In injury news, wide receiver Julio Jones, center Ben Jones and tight end Geoff Swaim were all absent once again. Julio hasn’t practiced since Monday, Ben since Wednesday, and Swaim since last Thursday.

Other key Titans such as wideout A.J. Brown, defensive linemen Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons, outside linebacker Harold Landry, and right guard Nate Davis also did not participate. After practice, head coach Mike Vrabel revealed it was a rest day for Brown and Simmons, but did not address the others.

Now, on to the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Day 9 of training camp.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Day 8 of practice

Titans OLB Bud Dupree made his practice debut on Friday.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field on Friday after taking Thursday off, and the big news coming from it was the 2021 training camp debut of outside linebacker Bud Dupree.

Dupree started out training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he continued to recover from a torn ACL suffered last December, but Tennessee announced he had been activated off the list on Friday morning after passing his physical. Expect him to be worked back in slowly.

In other news, the Titans saw the return of wide receiver Josh Reynolds, who had not practiced in a week, and outside linebacker Harold Landry, who left early on Tuesday and missed Wednesday’s session.

One player who did not return is wide receiver Julio Jones. The veteran suffered what was deemed a minor injury on Monday, and head coach Mike Vrabel revealed his practice reps will be limited throughout training camp.

Now, here’s a look at the news, notes, video and post-practice presser highlights from Friday.

Titans training camp: News, notes, video from Day 7 of practice

The Titans saw some key players absent from Wednesday’s practice.

The Tennessee Titans were back in action at training camp for Day 7 on Wednesday, taking part in their second padded practice, which comes one day before the team will have an off day on Thursday.

The Titans once again saw some important players not participating, as wide receivers Julio Jones and Josh Reynolds, tight end Geoff Swaim, and outside linebacker Harold Landry were all absent.

Jones came down with a seemingly minor injury on Monday and has now missed two practices in a row. Reynolds and Swaim have not seen the practice field since last Thursday. Landry left early on Tuesday.

The good news is that outside linebacker Derick Roberson was back in action after leaving practice early on Saturday, and first-round pick, cornerback Caleb Farley, got in his third practice of training camp.

After practice was over, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and left tackle Taylor Lewan addressed the media. We have the highlights from those pressers, on top of the news, notes and video from Wednesday’s session.

Mike Vrabel: Titans comfortable with Lamm at RT, Radunz ‘needs to be better’

Titans 2021 second-round pick Dillon Radunz has struggled with consistency.

After the Tennessee Titans hit the practice field for the seventh training camp session, and the second in which pads were worn, head coach Mike Vrabel gave an update on the situation at right tackle.

The Titans currently have a competition at the position between veteran Kendall Lamm and rookie Dillon Radunz, with veteran Ty Sambrailo also figuring to factor into the equation.

Vrabel noted that Lamm has been doing some work at left tackle with Taylor Lewan, who is coming back from a torn ACL, being brought along slowly, but said that the team would feel comfortable with Lamm at right tackle.

In what is not a good sign for the Titans’ 2021 second-round pick, Vrabel said that Radunz “needs to be better” and has struggled with consistency.

Certainly not surprising to see that is the case with a rookie. We were high on Radunz ahead of the 2021 campaign and thought he could win the starting job, but clearly he has some work to do.

As far as Lewan is concerned, Vrabel said that he has looked good in the light work he has done. The plan is to see how he progresses before putting him back in team drills.
