USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 softball rankings: Week 11

Lake Creek continues as No. 1 in USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lake Creek won three more playoff games to remain the No. 1 team in the USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 for a ninth-straight week.

The (36-0) Lions defeated Waller twice late last week, then shut out Friendswood, 8-0, on Wednesday in the first game of their best-of-three Texas Class 5A regional semifinal series.

Meanwhile, there was plenty of movement below them following Oaks Christian’s 4-0 loss to Los Alamitos on Saturday in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semis.

Undefeated squads Roncalli (24-0), Benton (31-0) and Anthony Wayne (27-0), plus one-loss Riverton (21-1) comprise the rest of the revised first five. Lakewood Ranch (27-2) and Clovis North (21-2) are next, followed by No. 8 Neshoba Central (31-3) — which beat East Central, 13-4, on Wednesday to capture a ninth-straight Mississippi state 5A title — and Donovan Catholic (23-0).

Patterson Mill (19-0) replaced fellow Maryland school Damascus in the 15th spot this week, while Minnesota’s Rosemount (17-2) at No. 20 and Missouri’s Diamond (27-3) at No. 24 round out the Super 25 newcomers.

State rankings submitted by the 2022 NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality, strength of schedule, and active NFCA membership.

USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 softball rankings: Week 10

Lake Creek still tops in USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lake Creek rolled to a playoff victory to remain the top team in the USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 for an eighth-straight week.

The (32-0) Lions ripped Weiss, 11-0, last Friday and play Waller later today as the Texas state 5A tournament continues. Lake Creek already has a win over Waller, 6-2, in an early-season meeting back on March 5.

No. 2 Oaks Christian (30-0) beat Valley View and Chino Hills to keep pace and reach 30 wins for the season. The Lions play a California playoff game against Murrieta Mesa today.

Lakewood Ranch (25-2) edged Venice, 1-0, last Thursday to jump to No. 3 this week following losses by both Clovis North and Neshoba Central. Unbeaten teams Roncalli (21-0), Benton (30-0) and Anthony Wayne (22-0) also benefited from the losses above them, climbing into spots 4-6.

Riverton (21-1), Clovis North (20-2), Neshoba Central (27-3) and North Augusta (27-1) round out the first 10.

Elsewhere, New Jersey powerhouse Immaculate Heart Academy (21-0) and perennial New Hampshire leader Concord (19-0) kept winning, to win spots No. 16 and 19, respectively.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Lake Creek and Oaks Christian — the two teams with Lion mascots atop the USA TODAY Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 — kept winning to remain undefeated and in full control with playoff games looming.

No. 1 Lake Creek (32-0) has started the Texas 5A tournament already, beating Magnolia twice last week to set up a best-of-three with Weiss in the next round starting on Friday. The Lions have now won 70 of their last 72 contests.

Meanwhile, No. 2 Oaks Christian (28-0) opens the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs with a matchup against Valley View later today.

Fellow California school Clovis North (19-1) remains third in the rankings, while eight-time reigning Mississippi Class 5A champion and No. 4 team Neshoba Central (25-2) has Saltillo standing between itself and another state final four berth. Fifth-ranked Lakewood Ranch (24-2) has a Florida 7A, District 8 playoff contest today versus Venice.

No. 6 Roncalli (17-0) beat a pair of ranked teams — Marist and New Palestine — on Saturday to maintain its position, while undefeated newcomers Benton (27-0) and Anthony Wayne (20-0) both made a big statement by debuting in the top 10.
