Derrick White, Boston Celtics entering historic territory with recent play

It is evidently the right moment to update the record books.

It is evidently the right moment to update the record books for fans of the Boston Celtics, with their favorite ball club poised to make history with their home record, and the team’s starting point guard, Derrick White, already in the thick of setting defensive records for guards while helping push Boston into that heretofore unchartered territory.

The Celtics, for their part, are a win shy of tying the team’s all-time record for consecutive home wins with a 16th home victory notched after Boston narrowly defeated the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. That record was set to start the storied franchise’s 1957-58 NBA season, the only season the Celtics did not win a title between the season prior and 1966-67 (they did make it to the NBA Finals, though — h/t MassLive’s Brian Robb).

On White’s end of the equation, the Colorado native is in the midst of a string of games in which he has blocked more than one shot for seven consecutive games.

That has not been done since a young Michael Jordan did so for the Chicago Bulls in 1987, according to Statitudes’ Justin Kubatko.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum becomes the youngest Celtic to 10,000 points vs. Nets

The St. Louis native hit that lofty mark in the first half of the road tilt against the Nets.

All-NBA Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum hit a major career milestone on Saturday evening vs. the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center, becoming the youngest player in the nearly eight-decade history of the Celtics organization according to the ball club’s official social media stats account.

The St. Louis native hit that lofty mark in the first half of the road tilt against the Nets with virtually no fanfare on the call. The deed was done with Tatum currently 25 years and 246 days old, putting him ahead of another Boston great, Employee No. 8 — better known to younger Celtics fans as former Boston forward Antoine Walker.

Cybertoine — another of his several nicknames — managed the feat almost a full year older at exactly 26 years and 131 days old.

Somehow, we have the feeling that the Duke alum might be setting a few more records soon if not this season.

A closer look at Boston’s 155-104 blowout of Indiana reveals unparalleled dominance

NBA statistical guru Dick Lipe took a magnifying glass to the extraordinary Eastern Conference contest after the dust had settled.

The Boston Celtics’ historic beatdown of the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night was not only exceptional in the lopsidedness of the game’s final score, there were a number of other aspects of the highly atypical contest worth a second look.

NBA statistical guru Dick Lipe took a magnifying glass to the extraordinary Eastern Conference contest after the dust had settled a little, and came up with a host of intriguing facts about the Boston win worth sharing. Shared with legendary Boston beat writer Steve Bulpett — currently with Heavy — the game was clearly one for the ages and then some.

Let’s take a look at what the so-called Sultan of Stat dug up about the blowout.
