Video: Have fighter complaints overshadowed 2024 PFL Championship event?

2024 PFL Championship will crown six $1 million season winners on Friday, just as a litany of fighter complaints about the company pour in.

The cumulation of the 2024 PFL season takes place Friday in Saudi Arabia with 2024 PFL Championship. It should be a time of celebration for the organization, which will crown six new $1 million tournament winners, but unfortunately, it goes down in the midst of a negative news cycle for the company.

After officially PFL acquired Bellator almost exactly one year ago, a trio of current Bellator champions in Patricio Freire, Corey Anderson and Patchy Mix have come out with grievances against the company surrounding a lack of fights, and the frustration it has caused in relation to career management.

The state of PFL and its struggles through the Bellator merger are a hot topic on a week with its season finale, where a potential breakthrough star in Dakota Ditcheva is set to take on Taila Santos in the women’s flyweight championship.

What to make of the two sides of the coin, and how it all blends together for PFL going into 2025? The panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King, Dan Tom and host “Gorgeous” George Garcia discusses on the latest episode of “Spinning Back Clique.”

Reaction: Conor McGregor found liable in 2018 sexual assault case. Now what?

How will the jury ruling against Conor McGregor in his 2018 sexual assault civil case impact his personal and professional fighting future?

After a nearly two-week trial, former two-division UFC champion [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] was found liable for sexual assault in Ireland stemming from a 2018 incident.

A jury ruled against McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) in a civil trail after he was accused of raping Nikita Hand in a hotel room, resulting in him being ordered to pay roughly $250,000 in damages. Although McGregor claims he intends to appeal the result, there’s an argument that the hit to his reputation in the public sphere cannot be undone.

The fallout from the situation is still ongoing, with many potential layers at play with McGregor both in terms of his personal life and his future as a fighter under the UFC banner.

The panel of Mike Bohn, Nolan King and Dan Tom joined host “Gorgeous” George Garcia on this week’s episode of “Spinning Back Clique” to discuss the aftermath of McGregor losing his civil case, and what the future holds for the biggest star in MMA history.

Video: Was Petr Yan’s UFC Macau win enough to steal Umar Nurmagomedov’s title shot?

Petr Yan was spectacular at UFC Macau to the point champ Merab Dvalishvili wants him next over unbeaten Umar Nurmagomedov.

[autotag]Petr Yan[/autotag] showed he’s still very much among the elite of the bantamweight division Saturday when he won every round of his UFC Fight Night 248 main event against Deiveson Figueiredo.

After an ACL injury sidelined him for eight months, Yan (18-5 MMA, 10-4 UFC) returned looking as sharp as ever when he delivered a clinical unanimous decision beating of fellow former UFC champ Figueiredo in their headlining bout at Galaxy Arena in Macau, and now there’s calls for him to fight for the belt once more.

One of those calls came form reigning 135-pound champion [autotag]Merab Dvalishvili[/autotag] (18-4 MMA, 11-2 UFC) himself, who again pushed the already-named next challenger Umar Nurmagomedov (18-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) to the wayside and pitched a rematch with Yan, who he defeated by lopsided decision in March 2023, for a rematch at UFC 313 on March 8 in Las Vegas.

Is there any chance Yan’s performance can leapfrog him over Nurmagomedov? That was a topic of discussion on this week’s episode of “Spinning Back Clique” with panelists Mike Bohn, Nolan King and Dan Tom, who joined host “Gorgeous” George Garcia to debate the state of the bantamweight division.

  • Former UFC two-division champion [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] hasn’t fought in nearly four years. Just when he’ll actually return is up in the air even more after he was found liable for a 2018 sexual assault in Ireland. He appealed the jury’s decision. Should the UFC penalize him, as unlikely as that seems? We’ll discuss the bad situation.

Video: Was Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match on Netflix a success?

Can the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event be considered a success? We discuss on “Spinning Back Clique.”

Yes, [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Mike Tyson[/autotag] actually happened.

What seemed like a ridiculous idea years ago, today is a reality. Paul, a YouTube star turned professional boxer, fought and defeated a 58-year-old Tyson in a professional boxing fight on Friday night at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Texas. The event, which streamed live on Netflix, was a huge draw, with over 60 million households tuning in, according to reports. Yet, despite the viewership, the event itself was a mixed bag, as it featured high-level boxing with not-so-high-level boxing.

So, despite the criticism surrounding the Paul vs. Tyson fight, can the event as a whole be considered a success?

MMA Junkie’s Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn, Danny Segura and host Gorgeous George discuss everything surrounding Paul vs. Tyson fight and its success at the box office.

Analyzing UFC welterweight shake up: Rakhmonov vs. Machado Garry, Covington vs. Buckley

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs. Ian Machado Garry and Colby Covington vs. Joaquin Buckley? We discuss these UFC matchups on “Spinning Back Clique.”

A lot is going on in the UFC’s welterweight division.

With UFC welterweight champion [autotag]Belal Muhammad[/autotag] withdrawing from his first title defense at UFC 310 due to injury, the promotion was forced to make some big changes.

These changes were two important bookings: [autotag]Ian Machado Garry[/autotag] was pulled from his fight against [autotag] Joaquin Buckley[/autotag] on Dec. 14, and matched up with [autotag]Shavkat Rakhmonov[/autotag], who was supposed to challenge Muhammad. With Machado Garry out, Buckley was given former title challenger [autotag]Colby Covington[/autotag] for the Dec. 14 Fight Night in Tampa, Fla.

Were these the matchups the UFC welterweight division needed? Which fighters will come out victorious?

MMA Junkie’s Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn, Danny Segura and host Gorgeous George discuss the pair of key welterweight bouts going down next month.

Video: Can Charles Oliveira win back UFC title? Is Bo Nickal ready for ranked fighters?

What are the immediate outlooks for Charles Oliveira and Bo Nickal coming out of UFC 309? We discuss on “Spinning Back Clique.”

Jon Jones was obviously the protagonist of UFC 309, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t other interesting storylines on the card.

Sarurday’s pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden in New York City saw former UFC lightweight champion [autotag]Charles Oliveira[/autotag] get back in the win column as he defeated Michael Chandler in a thrilling rematch. Right before that lightweight clash, top prospect [autotag]Bo Nickal[/autotag] extended his unbeaten run by outpointing Paul Craig in a showing that was criticized by many. These were just two of the many highlights from the card.

Can Oliveira win back the UFC lightweight belt? Is Bo Nickal ready to fight ranked opposition?

MMA Junkie’s Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn, Danny Segura and host Gorgeous George discuss some of the key results outside the main event for UFC 309.

Debate: Will Jon Jones finally fight Tom Aspinall after UFC 309?

Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is clearly the fight fans want to see after UFC 309. Will it happen? We discuss on “Spinning Back Clique.”

The [autotag]Jon Jones[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Stipe Miocic[/autotag] saga is finally over, and it left the MMA world with one key question: Will Jones finally fight [autotag]Tom Aspinall[/autotag] to unify the UFC heavyweight title?

Jones defended his heavyweight strap this past Saturday by stopping Miocic in the third round of their UFC 309 main event in Madison Square Garden. Jones indicated that he wants to fight Alex Pereira next, or maybe Aspinall if he were paid “f*ck you money.” This may be frustrating to many, as Aspinall won and defended the interim heavyweight title over the past year, making himself the clear No. 1 contender in the division.

So, will Jones get down with Aspinall? And how did Jones look in his return to the octagon?

MMA Junkie’s Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn, Danny Segura and host Gorgeous George discuss everything surrounding Jon Jones’ big win over Miocic and what may come next for his career.

Spinning Back Clique REPLAY: UFC 309 fallout, Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall, Paul-Tyson, more

On the latest episode of “Spinning Back Clique,” the panel discusses Jon Jones’ win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jake Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson, and more.

Check out this week’s “Spinning Back Clique,” MMA Junkie’s weekly live show that takes a spin through the biggest topics in mixed martial arts.

This week’s panel of Brian “Goze” Garcia, Mike Bohn and Danny Segura will join host “Gorgeous” George Garcia live at noon ET (9 a.m. PT) to discuss and debate the following topics:

  • [autotag]Jon Jones[/autotag] has made the heavyweight division quite interesting, to say the least. The living legend returned to the cage Saturday, successfully defending his UFC heavyweight title against [autotag]Stipe Miocic[/autotag] in the main event of UFC 309. Now it seems Jones has little to no intention of unifying the belt with interim champion [autotag]Tom Aspinall[/autotag], and is calling for a bout against fellow star and light heavyweight champion [autotag]Alex Pereira[/autotag]. What happens now? Will Jones give in and fight Aspinall, or will he retire from MMA? We discuss and analyze everything surrounding the UFC 309 main event.
  • Jones wasn’t the only one who made headlines at UFC 309, which also saw [autotag]Charles Oliveira[/autotag] defeat [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag] in their highly anticipated rematch; [autotag]Bo Nickal[/autotag] continue his unbeaten run in MMA; [autotag]Mauricio Ruffy[/autotag] follow up on an impressive UFC debut; and much more. We discuss and highlight some of the other key results outside the UFC 309 main event.
  • Netflix debuted its first live sports event with a boxing match between popular influencer [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] and 58-year-old former champion [autotag]Mike Tyson[/autotag]. The event left plenty to discuss – some good, some bad. We react to Paul’s win over Tyson, along with Netflix’s jump into live sports.
  • To close out the show, we review some of the smaller news items outside the two big weekend events, including the booking of [autotag]Shavkat Rakmonov[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Ian Machado Garry[/autotag], which serves as the new co-main event of UFC 310; the return of [autotag]Colby Covington[/autotag], who fills in for Machado Garry to fight [autotag]Joaquim Buckley[/autotag] in the main event of UFC on ESPN 63 on Dec. 14; and the implementation of the old UFC gloves – sort of.
