Which current SEC college football programs are the greatest of all-time according to the UPI and USA Today Coaches final polls?

Using a ranking system taking all the AP final college football polls and assigning 25 points to the national champion, 24 for the final No. 2 team, 23 for the No. 3 team on down.

There’s no question who the elephant is in the room – it’s Alabama’s spot up top and it’s not even close. However, after 2019 and the national championship, LSU moved past Tennessee to the No. 2 all-time spot, and Georgia is now tied with the Vols.

One note on this – this is made up of current SEC programs and factoring in their histories. Obviously Texas A&M, Missouri, and others are new to the SEC world over the last few years, but all of their records count.

Again, this is based on the CFN formula. This isn’t any official ranking coming from USA TODAY or the Coaches Poll.

Kentucky (3-6) vs South Carolina (2-7) Game Preview

Why South Carolina Will Win

The Kentucky offense really, really isn’t working.

South Carolina might be having a whole slew of issues – and the real focus is on finding a new head coach – but this is the perfect team to deal with at just the right time.

Okay, okay, okay, so UK couldn’t get the O going against Alabama, Florida and Georgia over the last four games – not a whole lot to shame there. However, it only gained 145 yards against Missouri and 157 against Mississippi State as part of a brutal run six games in seven without hitting 300 yards of total O.

The Cats have no downfield passing game, no pass rush or pressure in the backfield, and there are way too many stalled drives.

A low scoring slugfest – that’s perfect for the Gamecocks, because …

Week 14 College Schedule

Why Kentucky Will Win

Yeah, you know that whole offense thing the kids are all into? South Carolina doesn’t do a whole lot of that.

The Gamecocks got into a fun fight with Ole Miss, but outside of that, the O hasn’t done anything over the past month mainly because the offensive line isn’t getting the job done.

The backfield isn’t getting time to work – USC leads the SEC in most tackles for loss allowed – the defense isn’t coming up with enough third down stops, and the defensive side isn’t doing its part with no pressure and few sacks.

Here’s the thing, though – South Carolina isn’t producing because it’s not playing well. Kentucky isn’t getting a whole lot numbers-wise because that’s partly how it rolls.

CFN Experts Picks: College

What’s Going To Happen

The Kentucky defense is better than it seems. Getting ripped of at Alabama and Florida over a two-game span will screw anyone up – but there problems against Vanderbilt, too.

South Carolina isn’t going to find its O this week, but it’ll hang around enough in a good four-quarter fight. Kentucky will have the ball more and do a better job of controlling the clock.

Georgia (5-2) vs South Carolina (2-6) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Georgia Will Win

And now the Bulldogs have a quarterback.

Stetson Bennett wasn’t bad, and D’Wan Mathis had a few decent moments, but there’s a reason JT Daniels was JT Five-Star going to USC. He was also a high school senior when he started for the Trojans – it was always going to take some time for him to grow and mature into the job.

It’s not exactly time to assume Daniels is going to win a Heisman after just one game, but 28-of-38, 401 yards, four touchdown passes, no interceptions, and a downfield passing game against Mississippi State that’s been painfully missing from the Georgia offense for years.

You think that’s an overstatement? Daniels averaged 10.6 yards per attempt last week – the offense failed to hit ten yards per try all year, and went 17 straight games as a program without getting there.

Georgia only averaged over ten yards per pass twice last season – against Murray State and Arkansas State, not Mississippi State.

South Carolina is allowing nine yards per throw and gives up 278 passing yards per game.

Why South Carolina Will Win

Uhhhhh, Georgia running game?

Yeah, Daniels was fantastic, and there was no reason to go away from him and the passing game, but the running game went nowhere against Miss State with just eight yards on 23 carries.

Three MSU sacks and 11 tackles for loss had something to do with that.

South Carolina isn’t generating a whole lot of pass rush, but the run defense wasn’t bad against Missouri, Kevin Harris is a nice running back to work around, and Georgia’s defense doesn’t do a whole lot to get into the backfield.

The Gamecocks have to hold up on the lines, and they need a few breaks, and ….

What’s Going To Happen

Israel Mukuamu isn’t around anymore after opting out.

The former star defensive back single-handedly screwed up Georgia last year with three interceptions including a pick-six in South Carolina’s 20-17 win. This isn’t a Gamecock team, though, that’s catching – or forcing – a lot of positive breaks.

The Georgia defense will hold down a USC offense that scored ten points against Missouri last week and three a few weeks earlier against Texas A&M, and Daniels will have another strong day.

South Carolina (2-4) vs Missouri (2-3) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Missouri Will Win

South Carolina is in – let’s be nice here – a state of transition.

Will Muschamp has been fired, former Colorado State head man Mike Bobo is the coach in the interim, NFL-calber defensive back Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu are a part of the players lost to opt-outs, and all of this is coming off a rough three-game losing streak thanks to a disastrous run by the D.

The Gamecocks have allowed an average of 53 points per game over the last three, the secondary was having problems before the talent dump, and the offense hasn’t been good enough to make up for it.

Missouri couldn’t get the offense going a few weeks ago when it last played Florida, but the passing game has hit 200 yards in every game. That’s about to continue with ease.

Why South Carolina Will Win

There’s something to be said for a nothing-to-lose attitude.

The Muschamp hot seat drama is over, the season has slipped into the abyss, and top players are protecting themselves for the next level – now the Gamecocks can play fast, loose, and without any pressure whatsoever.

Missouri’s defense isn’t getting into the backfield at all, it’s not taking the ball away, and there’s no running game to worry about. If the Gamecock offense can get Kevin Harris hot early on – the sophomore running back won’t tear off 243 yards and five scores like he did against Ole Miss – the game could settle in and the offense should be okay.

What’s Going To Happen

Don’t just assume that Mizzou will roll in this because of all the things happening in the South Carolina version of Columbia.

The Tiger offense will be balanced, the passing game will work, but watch out for South Carolina to put up a strong effort in a good, fun battle that will go a full four quarters. There’s still enough talent around for the Gamecocks to pull this off, but the pass defense will fail late.
