Rutgers men’s basketball vs Wisconsin: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

On February 10, Rutgers men’s basketball will be putting their two-game winning streak on the line against one of the best teams in the country

On Saturday, Rutgers men’s basketball will be putting their two-game winning streak on the line against one of the best teams in the country. The Scarlet Knights will welcome the 11th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers to Jersey Mike’s Arena.

While Wisconsin has recorded a 16-7 (8-4 Big Ten) record, they have struggled recently. After finishing January with a win against Michigan State, they are 0-3 in February. The Badgers have only scored more than 70 points once in that span.

As Wisconsin attempts to get back on track, they will have its hands full. So far this month, Rutgers is playing their best basketball of the season. They are 2-0 with wins over Maryland and Michigan.

To pull off an upset, Rutgers will need to be at its best. Entering play on Friday, Wisconsin was ranked as the third-best team in the Big Ten. After a rough start to the month, they will be hungry to take care of business and improve their conference record.

Oh no he didn’t! Rutgers basketball commit, 5-star forward Ace Bailey posterizes an opponent

Rutgers basketball commit Ace Bailey is at it again with another highlight dunk.

Rutgers basketball has never had a player like Ace Bailey. The five-star forward, who signed with Rutgers during the early signing period, is a walking highlight film.

On a weekly basis, Bailey is showing why he was a coveted player by Rutgers. He is ranked a consensus five-star and is the second-best player in the nation according to ESPN and is a 6-foot-10 forward from McEachern (Powder Springs, Georgia).

Bailey is simply a unique player, one who is explosive to the rim but who is smooth in transition with the ball in his hands. He has range with his shooting and he is a strong defender as well as a very good and committed rebounder.

But these dunks show just how explosive Bailey is and give a glimpse into his NBA potential.

This is a one-and-done player for Rutgers if he continues on this trajectory.

Bailey joins a Rutgers recruiting class that is top 10 in the nation. The class also features Dylan Harper, a five-star guard from Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey).

It is the first time in program history that Rutgers has two players ranked as five-star recruits.

[lawrence-related id=35093,35068,35047]

Harper is the No. 3 player in the nation, which is also a first for Rutgers. Never before have the Scarlet Knights had two of the nation’s top three players in a single class.

Rutgers men’s basketball wins second straight conference game

Rutgers men’s basketball has won two straight games.

For the second straight game, Rutgers men’s basketball found a way to win against a Big Ten team. On Tuesday night, Rutgers traveled to the Xfinity Center to take on Maryland and left with a 56-53 win. In a hard-fought battle, Rutgers got scoring from throughout the lineup.

As Rutgers held off a determined Terrapins offense, Mawot Mag set the tone offensively. The talented forward scored a time-high 15 points and hauled in three rebounds. He got some help from Jeremiah Williams, who scored 14 points in his second game of the season.

With the win, Rutgers is now 12-10 (4-7 Big Ten).

Although Maryland was unable to defend their home court, there were a few bright spots. That includes Julian Reese, who added 19 points to his resume. Jahmir Young also made an impact with 16 points in 38 minutes of action.

While this game came down to the wire, Rutgers had their way close to the basket for most of the night. The Scarlet Knights scored 32 points in the paint and recorded 37 rebounds. They also made clutch shots as time winded down.

Additionally, Rutgers showed a lot of resilience as they trailed by two points heading into the second half. Their offense came alive and outscored Maryland 34-29 in the second half. The Scarlet Knights will be back in action against Wisconsin on February 10.

Rutgers men’s basketball vs Maryland: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

After a brief vacation, Rutgers men’s basketball is back in action on Tuesday night against Maryland

After a brief vacation, Rutgers men’s basketball is back in action on Tuesday night against Maryland. The Scarlet Knights are 1-0 in February, with their only win coming against Michigan.

Hey, following what has been a difficult season, 1-0 February is a good thing.

Tuesday represents an excellent opportunity for them to improve their Big Ten record.

To win on the road, Rutgers will need Aundre Hyatt and Clifford Omoruyi to have big games. Hyatt, in particular, will need to step up after only scoring four points against Michigan. Omoruyi fared much better as he added 15 points to his resume.

While Rutgers will look to build on their success, they have a challenging task ahead. The Terrapins are 10-2 at the XFINITY Center and are much better at home. That will make it hard for them to stop, as Rutgers has struggled on the road.

Regardless of the outcome, this game should be full of fireworks. Conference wins are at a premium and both teams have plenty to prove.

Rutgers men’s basketball searching for fourth conference win against Maryland

Rutgers basketball faces a huge game midweek at Maryland.

After starting February with a win on Saturday at Michigan, Rutgers men’s basketball will look to continue their success against Maryland on February 6. The Scarlet Knights only have three conference wins this season but beat Michigan in convincing fashion over the weekend.

However, they will take on a Terrapins team with plenty to prove. So far this season, Jahmir Young has set the tone offensively for Maryland. He is averaging a team-high 20.9 points per game. He has gotten some help from Julian Reese, who has been a force in the paint.

Rutgers is now 11-10 (3-7 Big Ten) on the season.

Although Rutgers will have their hands full, Maryland will be tasked with stopping Derek Simpson, who is coming off one of his best performances of the season. Against Michigan, he led Rutgers in scoring with 19 points. He also went 2-3 from three-point range.

While Maryland is heavily favored in this game, it represents a perfect opportunity for Rutgers to end their road woes. They are 2-5 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena this season. Maryland has thrived at home with a 10-2 record.

As the end of the regular season inches closer, wins are at a premium for both teams. That has made this Tuesday night matchup more critical. Rutgers will be eager to prove themselves with a lot on the line.

Rutgers men’s basketball five most winnable games

As Rutgers looks to improve their playoff position, conference wins will be big down the stretch. Luckily for Rutgers, there are a few matchups that they can take advantage of.

With 21 games in the books, Rutgers men’s basketball has posted an 11-10 record. In what has been an up-and-down season, Rutgers has excelled at home while struggling against Big Ten teams. Their 3-7 record in conference play is the third-worst mark in the Big Ten.

However, in their first game of February, Rutgers showed improvement with a win over Michigan. Over the next six weeks, they will have a chance to build on their success before the start of the Big Ten Tournament and March Madness.

As Rutgers looks to improve their playoff position, conference wins will be big down the stretch. Luckily for Rutgers, there are a few matchups that they can take advantage of.

A big key to their success will also be playing a complete game. During January, they were plagued by slow starts of scoreless stretches. Below are the five best matchups that Rutgers can add to their win column before the final whistle in the 2023-2024 campaign blows.

Hail to the road victors: Big second half propels Rutgers basketball to a Big Ten win at Michigan

Rutgers basketball gets a big road win at Michigan.

Led by 19 points from Derek Simpson, Rutgers basketball overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to secure an impressive 69-59 win at Michigan.

With the win, Rutgers is now 11-10 (3-7 Big Ten). Michigan falls to 7-15 (2-9 Big Ten).

Rutgers, despite some predictably poor shooting, got this important Big Ten road win by controlling the glass (40-32 rebounding edge) and turnovers (19 Michigan turnovers to just nine for Rutgers).

The win snaps a three-game losing streak and helps erase the bad taste from a 15-point midweek loss to Penn State at Jersey Mike’s Arena. It was also an impressive win given that Rutgers overcame a steep halftime deficit to outscore Michigan 39-20 in the second half.

The sophomore Simpson was 7-of-13 shooting including making two of his three attempts behind the arc. Showing some rust, guard Jeremiah Williams’ season debut saw him score 10 points (4-of-12 from the floor).

And it was a big-time game from big man Cliff Omoruyi, who had a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) as he controlled the paint for Rutgers.

Jeremiah Williams to make Rutgers debut against Michigan

Jeremiah Williams will play for Rutgers at Michigan.

Rutgers men’s basketball will get a midseason boost on Saturday with the return of Jeremiah Williams. The Iowa State transfer is eligible to play after sitting out 20 games for violating the NCAA’s gambling policy. His return comes four games early, as his suspension was supposed to last until February 18.

In his college career, Williams has toured the country. He played two years for Temple, averaging 9.2 points and 4.2 assists per game. After his run with the Owls, Williams transferred to Iowa State for the 2022-2023 season. However, he never played for the Cyclones after damaging an Achilles tendon during a workout in October 2022.

According to Jerry Carino in his breaking story on Williams’ return:

The U.S. District Court of New Jersey on Friday granted an injunction to the 6-foot-5 combo guard so he can suit up at Michigan Saturday; the NCAA’s suspension was supposed to last four more games, which would have allowed Williams to begin playing Feb. 18 at Minnesota.

After months of anticipation, Rutgers backcourt should improve with Williams back in the mix. He is a good ball-handler and a solid rebounder. He still has two years of eligibility remaining.

While Williams should get playing time right away, it will be interesting to see how he is worked into the rotation. Head coach Steve Pikielll has relied on his young guards, such as Derek Simpson, Jamichael Davis and Gavin Griffiths this season.

Although Rutgers’ matchup with Michigan will mark his first game action, this will not be Williams’s first time playing with his teammates. He has been practicing with the team since July.

Rutgers men’s basketball starts February slate with Michigan matchup

Rutgers men’s basketball has a big game this weekend against Michigan.

After a disappointing ending to January, Rutgers men’s basketball is back in action on Saturday. Rutgers will take on a Michigan team that has lost four straight and only won two conference games. This matchup represents a perfect chance for the Scarlet Knights to get back on track.

As Rutgers posted a 2-6 record in January, they struggled on the road. So far this season, they are 1-5 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena. To move up in the Big Ten standings, they must prove they can win in a hostile environment.

Additionally, Rutgers will need their stars, such as Clifford Omoruyi and Aundre Hyatt, to step up. Against Penn State on Wednesday, the talented duo scored a combined 13 points. When they are at their best, Rutgers offense is hard to stop.

While Rutgers has a better record, Michigan has plenty to prove. They are 1-9 in their last ten games and have allowed more than 90 points twice in that span. However, there have been a few bright spots.

The Wolverines have been led by Dug McDaniel, who is averaging 17.2 points and 5.1 assists per game. He has gotten some help from Oliver Nkamhoua, who is averaging 16 points a game.

Regardless of the outcome, this matchup should provide plenty of fireworks at a packed Crisler Center.

Watch: Rutgers basketball commit Dylan Harper shows some nice moves in nailing an 18-foot jump shot

Dylan Harper continues to have an outstanding season.

Five-star guard Dylan Harper is a special talent, the likes of which Rutgers basketball has never before landed. This season, he is showing a maturity and a nuance that will correlate well to next year in the Big Ten.

(And to think that alongside Harper in this recruiting class is also five-star Ace Bailey and it is incredible to think how good Rutgers can be next season).

A 6-foot-5 guard from Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey), Harper is a nuanced guard who can run an offense and be dominant as a scorer. This summer, he showed an explosiveness to his game that is very encouraging for his transition to the Big Ten this year.

There is also added accuracy and consistency from distance that will be needed at Rutgers (and beyond). This season has only confirmed his status as one of the top three recruits in the nation.

To that end, check out this jump shot from Harper on Tuesday night against St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, New Jersey).

Harper sets himself up and creates some space for the shot with an intriguing move:

Make sure to expand the video to really see the nuance of what Harper did on the shot. Pretty savvy stuff from the high school senior.

Don Bosco beat St. Joseph 62-24. With the win, the Ironmen are 17-3 on the season.
