The Boston Celtics got their first win of the NBA’s 2024 Las Vegas Summer League, fittingly against their biggest rivals.

The Boston Celtics got their first win of the NBA’s 2024 Las Vegas Summer League, fittingly against their biggest rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Sin City Celtics beat the Summer Lakers 88-74 to bring Boston to 1-1 in summer league play to date, and Los Angeles to 0-2.

Big man Neemias Queta led all scorers with 22 points, along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Guard Jahmius Ramsey had a good game off the bench with 13 points, and forward Drew Peterson put up a solid 12 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists. Wing Jordan Walsh (9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block) and guard JD Davison (9 points, 7 assists, 1 block) also had good games.

The Summer Celtics will next face the Sin City Charlotte Hornets this coming Wed., July 17.

The party continues for the Boston Celtics a week removed from winning the 2024 NBA Finals. The champions headed to Fenway Park to celebrate with the Boston Red Sox and their fans Monday night. The Celtics were announced just ahead of the game to massive applause, and the starters threw out the ceremonial first pitch, too. They also made sure to bring along the Larry O’Brien trophy, a symbol of their hard work and success. After the festivities, the team stuck around to watch the game itself, a tightly contested affair between the Red Sox and the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. To cap off the night, Boston won thanks to a walk-off single from Jaren Durren in the bottom of the ninth inning, rounding out a special evening for the fans in attendance. Guys like Al Horford or Kristaps Porzingis spent years fighting through adversity and adapting roles to get to this point of their careers. And for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, winning a championship can finally put to rest the endless doubt and commentary that has swirled since they joined the team. The Boston Celtics won the 2024 NBA finals Monday night with a dominant home victory against the Dallas Mavericks. Boston won the series 4-1, delivering the city its first NBA title since 2008.    

Boston was the better team from opening of Game 5. The Celtics attacked the rim relentlessly, opening up a number of open looks from deep in the process. More importantly, they smothered Dallas on defnese, holding one of the NBA’s best offenses to just 88 points. Boston cruised to a win, celebrating in style on their home floor. With the usual trophy ceremony came plenty of smiles, confetti, and champagne. The players, coaches, and staff celebrated well into the night, creating a number of iconic memories in the process for fans.

The Boston Celtics won Game 5 of the finals 106-88, securing a 4-1 series victory and clinching the 2024 NBA title in the process. With the win, Boston also secured an 18th championship, the most of any franchise in the league.

Boston jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back. All five Celtics starters scored 9 or more points, something the Mavericks were unable to match. On the other end, Boston was physical and aggressive on defense, making life even more difficult for Dallas. By halftime the Celtics had amassed a huge lead, and from there, Boston was able to cruise to a convincing win. The win marks the first Celtics title since 2008 and second since 1986.

The Boston Celtics dropped Game 4 of the NBA finals on the road to the Dallas Mavericks, falling 122-84. This marks the third largest lost in finals history.

Dallas was simply more engaged on both ends. They defended with tenacity and purpose in a way that really disrupted the Celtics. And on the other side of the action, the Mavericks lit it up early, grabbing a 26-point lead by halftime. This was in part thanks to an anemic offensive approach from Boston. The Mavericks were more aggressive in this game, especially in the opening period. The star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving appeared to be more dialed in than in previous games in the series, bolstering Dallas’ entire offense. Boston hung tough, however, using a 35-19 third quarter to jump ahead and take control of the game. Not only were the Celtics able to overpower the Mavericks on offense in the second half, but Boston’s defense prevented Dallas from completing a comeback in the fourth quarter. It was a physical, gutsy victory for the Celtics.
