Razorbacks Rally! Arkansas qualifies for NCAA Championships after massive day

Arkansas is bound for the NCAA Championships at the end of the month in Arizona.

The Arkansas men’s golf team entered the final day of the Columbus Regional on the outside of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.

They finished the day moving ahead.

The Razorbacks shot a 3-under par for the day, leapfrogging East Tennessee State and San Francisco to finish fourth in the 13-team Regional. Arkansas finished the tournament at 7-over par for the week, three shots behind third-place Ohio State and 17 shots behind Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech, which tied for first.

The top-five finishing teams advanced to the Championships, with ETSU joining the four previous teams.

Senior [autotag]Segundo Oliva Pinto[/autotag] and junior [autotag]Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira[/autotag] helped the Razorbacks on the last day, each shooting 2-under par.

The NCAA Championships run from May 27 to June 1 at Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Britton Wilson runs the fastest single lap in college history

Britton Wilson proved to be one the fastest runners on the planet the SEC Track and Field Outdoor Championships.

No one in the history of the SEC had done what Britton Wilson accomplished.

Wilson was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches women’s national athlete of the week after won both the 400-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles at the SEC Outdoor Championships over the weekend.

Her time of 50.05 seconds in the dash was a school record, as was her time of 53.75 in the hurdles. Both times are rank her sixth in the history of the college sport in the events.

Besides that, she helped Arkansas finish third in the 1,600-meter relay where her 48.6 time on her lap was the fastest ever split in the even for a collegian.

Morgan Burks-Magee, Rosey Effiong and Jada Baylark joined Wilson on the relay team and finished with a mark of 3:22.55, setting an Arkansas record and ranking as the fourth-best run in college history.

Arkansas Softball signs team-wide NIL deal with Wright’s Barbecue

The team-wide deal with Wright’s Barbecue in Johnson and Bentonville is the second such deal that Arkansas Softball has inked this season.

Since the new Name, Image, and Likeness policy was put into place by the NCAA last July, many student-athletes across the nation have received benefits by promoting a business through social media and other outlets.

For athletes at the University of Arkansas, one of the big names in “NIL” opportunities has been Wright’s Barbecue in Johnson and Bentonville.

Wright’s Barbecue has teamed up with 40 Razorback athletes through various gift card and merchandise deals, as well as royalty deals through two baseball players in [autotag]Robert Moore[/autotag] and [autotag]Michael Turner[/autotag]. Moore and Turner’s deals include special menu items that fans can purchase at Baum-Walker Stadium including “Turner’s Oppo Taco”, a walking taco named after Michael Turner, and Robert Moore’s “Big Bob Brisket.”

Wright’s Barbecue has struck yet another deal with members of Arkansas athletics, the entire softball team.

Tweets from athletes such as [autotag]Mary Haff[/autotag], [autotag]Hannah Gammill[/autotag], and [autotag]Kacie Hoffman[/autotag] began circulating following the Razorbacks’ SEC Tournament Championship win last Sunday over Missouri, which proclaimed that they were now “Wrights Athletes.”

Jordan Wright with Wright’s Barbecue tells Razorbacks Wire that the idea for the NIL deal came from attending a youth softball game.

“We ran into (head coach) Courtney Diefel and Hannah Gammill at my daughter’s softball game and I was like, we need to get this done for you all,” says Wright. “Y’all are having a great season and it would be fun for all players before regionals started. They all jumped on board.”

Wright’s Barbecue is a staple among Razorbacks fans and athletes alike. With the NIL rule now being used as a factor in promoting business, Wright’s wants to give back to the student-athletes who regularly patronize their restaurants.

“We like to be proactive and ask athletes to do deals instead of fielding requests all of the time,” says Wright. “We want to make it easy for athletes to get deals, not harder.”

This is the second such NIL opportunity that Arkansas Softball has inked. Last month, Everett Buick GMC partnered with Arkansas Softball in a team-wide deal that promotes more visibility in women’s sports through Buick’s “See Her Greatness” campaign.

Where the SEC Tournament Champions rank in this week’s polls

Arkansas’ placement in the weekly polls reflects their national seeding in the NCAA Tournament

The Arkansas Razorbacks made history last Saturday evening, by winning their first-ever SEC Tournament Championship with a 4-0 win over Missouri in Gainesville, Fla.

The win solidified their placement as the no. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, which means that as long as Arkansas wins their regional at home beginning Friday, they will also host a Super Regional next weekend against the winner of the Seattle regional, hosted by no. 13 Washington.

With the tournament win, Arkansas’ placement in the polls reflects their national seeding. Here’s a look at where Arkansas Softball lands in this week’s rankings.

Arkansas is one spot out of advancing in NCAA Tournament with one day left

Arkansas can’t catch the leaders, but the Razorbacks can advance in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships.

One final round remains for Arkansas golf to make its run.

The Razorbacks are one place out of the final qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships after two rounds in Columbus, Ohio.

Arkansas is 10 strokes over par through two days of the regional. Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State are in a tie for first at 7-under par. The host school, Ohio State is 13 strokes back in third. Clemson is one shot behind the Buckeyes and East Tennessee State is one shot back of the Tigers. Arkansas is two shots behind ETSU tied with San Francisco.

The top five finishing teams will advance.

Duke, Northwestern, Wright State, Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast and Southern Illinois round out the field. Duke is one stroke back of Arkansas and San Francisco entering the final round on Wednesday.

Fayetteville ranked as 7th on ‘Best Places to Live’ list

Fayetteville is the best place to live in the SEC and seventh-best place to live in the country.

Northwest Arkansas is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. For good reason, turns out.

Fayetteville, home of the University of Arkansas, was ranked 7th in the Best Places to Live list published by U.S. News and World Report on Tuesday.

The rankings are compiled by using data on things like quality of life, desirability and housing affordability among others. The ranking is the sixth straight inside the top 10 for Fayetteville. Little Rock was ranked 87th on the list.

The population of the region grew by 24.2% since 2010 to more than 546,000. The population growth of the state as a whole grew by 3.3% since the 2010 census.

Fayetteville is the highest-ranked town among all cities in the SEC, as well. Here’s a look at the SEC (or future SEC) locales inside the Top 100.

Here are the best images from Arkansas Softball’s SEC Tournament Championship.

The Arkansas Razorbacks won their first-ever SEC Tournament Championship on Saturday, by defeating the Missouri Tigers 4-0 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

The Razorbacks have had a phenomenal season, from winning every SEC series on their way to their second-straight regular-season championship to placing six players on the SEC first-team. Winning the tournament championship is the icing on the cake.

Now that Arkansas has won the SEC, they will now prepare to host Oregon, Wichita State, and Princeton for the Fayetteville Regional beginning on Friday afternoon.

But, until then, enjoy these moments from Arkansas’ victory over Missouri for the SEC Tournament Championship.

Arkansas welcomes Princeton, Oregon, Wichita State to Bogle Park

Arkansas’ NCAA Tournament begins from Fayetteville on Friday when the Razorbacks host Princeton.

Arkansas could stay at home until the College World Series.

The Razorbacks were named the No. 4 overall seed for the 2022 NCAA Softball Tournament on Sunday. When regional play begins Friday from Bogle Park, Arkansas will first tackle Princeton, the Ivy League winners.

It’s the second straight season the Razorbacks have played at home in the NCAA Tournament. Arkansas won the regional last year before falling to Arizona in the Super Regional. The No. 4 seed this season is the largest in program history.

“It was really exciting,” coach Courtney Deifel said “It’s always nice to come into a night like tonight when you know your name is going to be on there, and you’re just kind of wondering where it’s going to land. Having a four next to Arkansas was really, really exciting.”

Arkansas (44-9) will also host the Oregon and Wichita State, the second and third seeds in the regional. First pitch against the Tigers is at 5 p.m. Friday and the game can be seen on SEC Network. The Razorbacks are 24-4 at home this season.
