Watch: Kenny Minchey finds Micah Gilbert for tying score in Notre Dame spring game

We could get used to Minchey to Gilbert

You have to give some credit to Notre Dame quarterback [autotag]Kenny Minchey[/autotag] for not letting an early interception deter the day.

It would have been very easy for him to turtle up and just go through the motions following an ill-advised throw in the first half. Minchey started to find his groove following the bad pass, and he make one of those highlight reel passes you love to see.

The second-year player found early enrolling true freshman wide receiver [autotag]Micah Gilbert[/autotag] along the right side on a beautiful throw over his right shoulder for a score. The impressive throw tied the game at 14 points midway through the third.

Watch: Kenny Minchey runs it in for third score of Notre Dame’s spring game

The second-year quarterback finds the end zone

Although Notre Dame football’s second-year quarterback [autotag]Kenny Minchey[/autotag] threw an interception earlier in the Blue and Gold game, it didn’t put him in the dumps.

A few series following the errand throw, Minchey drove his Gold team down the field and into the red zone. He initially rolled out to his left looking to throw the ball, but when no one came open, he called his own number and powered his way into the end zone.

It does look like at this moment Minchey is most likely the third-string quarterback behind Riley Leonard and Steve Angeli, but putting points on the board must have felt great for him.

Watch: True freshman RB Aneyas Williams finds end zone in Notre Dame’s spring game

The true freshman could make plays like this in the fall

It’s safe to say that Notre Dame football’s 2024 recruiting class will be setting the stage for years to come.

One of those freshman is running back [autotag]Aneyas Williams[/autotag], who entered the program as the nations No. 19 back and 250th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. It didn’t take long for him to make an impact in Notre Dame’s Blue and Gold game, as he found the end zone early in the second quarter.

Williams started his run on the inside, bounced outside and outraced the defenders to the pile-on and cashed in. What was an interesting aspect of the score was that the broadcast actually was interviewing head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and he explained how a freshman back could get playing time.

Since he knows the protections, Freeman believes that his young back will see the field early for the Irish this season. That is exciting to hear.

Watch: Steve Angeli finds Eli Raridon for first score of Notre Dame’s spring game

Angeli to Raridon for the first score of the Blue and Gold game

The first few minutes of Notre Dame football’s spring game was pretty boring, but that all changed when the Blue team found the end zone.

Quarterback [autotag]Steve Angeli[/autotag], who led the Irish to an impressive win in the Sun Bowl, looks like he has picked up where he left off. He was accurate and on time with his throws, moving his team down the field.

On 3rd-and-ten Angeli made a fantastic hard count to get the defense to jump offsides. The “free play” saw the sophomore find tight end [autotag]Eli Raridon[/autotag] over the middle, who juggled the ball, got control and powered his way for the first score of the Blue and Gold game.

Big things are expect from both players, even if Angeli is expected to be Riley Leonard’s backup when the season begins.

Former Notre Dame star Kyle Hamilton will have unique trail in next Madden game

The Irish star will be even better in the next Madden

As a gamer, it’s always fun to pick up the sticks and play EA Sports Madden franchise, and in the next edition former Notre Dame football star [autotag]Kyle Hamilton[/autotag] will have a unique trait.

In an announcement from the official Madden social media account, they let everyone know that the All-Pro safety will have a Superstar X-Factor of reinforcement. It gives Hamilton the trait to enter a tackling zone, where his ability to defeat run blocks increases along with disrupting catches via tackles.

It’s just an added element that Hamilton has shown over the course of his NFL career that the game just felt the need to include.

As one of the best players in the NFL, regardless of position, it’s just another fun boost that you’ll get while playing with the Baltimore Ravens.

Top 2026 Florida quarterback has Notre Dame football in his top group

This would be a huge recruiting win for the Irish

With quarterback recruiting, it’s never too early to go after a top prospect and Notre Dame football is no different.

On Thursday, Florida 2026 quarterback [autotag]Noah Grubbs[/autotag] cut his list down to 10 schools, with the Irish making the cut. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 205-pound sign caller has an impressive offer list, as his top teams are among the best programs in the country.

At the current moment, Grubbs is not ranked, but that surely will change as soon as many of the recruiting services update the 2026 class. Regardless of ranking, the interest between the two parties is real and it is a realistic possibility that Notre Dame is in his recruitment until the end.

Currently, Notre Dame has just one commitment in the 2026 class, wide receiver Dylan Faison.

Notre Dame alumnus shares memories of Boston Marathon bombing

Some memories of a tragic day.

At the time this is being written, the 2023 Boston Marathon is underway. That means it officially has been 10 years since a bombing rocked the 2013 event and shook all of Boston to its core. Many people have memories of that day to varying degrees. One of them was Notre Dame alumnus Charles Monahan.

Shortly after the bombing, Monahan wrote about his experience for Notre Dame Magazine. As one might expect, it was as chaotic as it was for anyone who was at or near the World Trade Center on 9/11. But Monahan was one of many helpers that day as he assisted in evacuation efforts and gave money for cab fare and coffee until he had none left. He observed other folks doing whatever they could to help, too, and that allowed that horrific day to showcase the best of humanity.

Let us never forget those who perished as a result of this tragedy or those who survived but continue to be traumatized by it.

Former Ohio State commit puts Notre Dame in his top group

The Irish are squarely in the mix for the star receiver

As soon as [autotag]Jayvan Boggs[/autotag] decommitted from Ohio State, the connection to Notre Dame football began.

It was confirmed on Wednesday evening, as Boggs released his top 7 schools with the Irish making the cut along with Florida, Georgia, Missouri, UCF, USC and Texas. The 6-foot and 188-pound Florida native is viewed as one of the top players in the country, ranking as the No. 193 overall prospect and 23rd receiver according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Irish aren’t one of the few schools that Boggs has already set up official visits to, but if they are to receive one, he could eventually land in South Bend.

Notre Dame currently has 19 total commits in the 2025 class, with three other receivers commited in Jerome Bettis Jr., Elijah Burress and Shaun Terry.

Notre Dame baseball slams its way to a mid-week road win

Notre Dame gets the week off on the right foot with two road victories, the second a comeback aided by a grand slam

It didn’t look good for Notre Dame baseball though seven innings, as the Irish were trailing Radford 6-4 heading into the top of the 8th.

Notre Dame exploded for 7-runs, which finished off the scoring for the day, giving the Irish an 11-6 victory and improving its early season record to 11-5.

Third baseman Simon Baumgardt was the star for Notre Dame, as he when 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the 8th to help open up the Irish lead. Center fielder TJ Williams also homered in the contest, while designated hitter David Glancy had two hits to help the Irish’s cause.

On the mound, Jackson Dennies started the game, but only went an inning, as the majority of pitchers went a max of two frames.

Notre Dame finished the short 2-games series with a sweep, defeating Radford on Tuesday 10-3 in a much more comfortable game.

The Irish return to the diamond on Friday, as they face ACC foe Florida State in Tallahassee for a 3-game series.

Notre Dame basketball lands its first transfer of the cycle

The Irish have added an elite shooter for next season

There has been plenty of transfer movement for Notre Dame basketball this week and it continued on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Irish saw Carey Booth finding his new home at Illinois, but the roles were reversed on Wednesday. Notre Dame landed Princeton transfer guard [autotag]Matt Allocco[/autotag], giving them their first commit of this cycle.

The 6-foot, 4-inch and almost 200-pound guard was a big time player for the Tigers over the past three seasons. Last year Allocco showed elite shooting tendencies, as he shot 42.7% from three, 50.8% from the field and 90.9% from the free throw line. There aren’t many who can match that kind of efficiency across the country.

The Irish now have seen three players enter the portal and just one come in, so expect more movement in the coming weeks.
