The full 2024 schedule for the Texas A&M Baseball team has been released

The Aggie baseball team now knows the date and who they will be playing in 2024.

As we enter year three of Coach Jim Scholssnagle, expectations are at an all-time high for Aggie baseball. He is somewhat a victim of his own success as the 2022 team reached the College World Series in his first year and knocked off arch-rival the Texas Longhorns.

While last season was not horrible, it was sometimes marred with inconsistent pitching and spotty batting. Coach Scholss spent the offseason aggressively bringing in talent through recruiting, the transfer portal, and the coaching staff.

Two of the more intriguing additions this offseason were two-way player Braden Montgomery and talented pitching coach Max Weiner. Montgomery transferred in from Stanford as a top pitcher and outfielder, named D1 baseball’s top transfer in the portal. Weiner is regarded as one of the top young pitching coaches who is known for his engaging coaching style and has been praised by the pitchers on the team.

We look forward to seeing an improved Aggie squad on opening night at Olsen Field in February.

Texas A&M OL Chase Bisontis will enter the transfer portal

It has been reported that freshman offensive lineman Chase Bisontis will enter the transfer portal after starting 12 games for Texas A&M.

The offensive line took a blow when reports surfaced that All-SEC freshman Chase Bisontis entered the transfer portal. After the firing of offensive line coach Steve Adazzio, whom Bisontis has developed a close relationship with from the start of his recruiting journey to landing in College Station, it looks like the budding star is looking for a fresh start.

With their presumed departures, several players have now entered the portal thus far, but keep an eye on the defensive line as some rumored transfers are coming. After the passing of coach Terry Price’s year and the future departure of defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, some attrition in the defensive trenches is expected.

Concerning Bistontis’s playing future, keep an eye on Rutgers, as the New Jersey native could be looking to play closer to home and find more consistency in the Big 10. Starting at right tackle during all 12 games this season, SEC experience will likely increase his chance to land wherever he pleases.

We wish Chase the best and will keep our eye on the portal news to see if Elko brings in a veteran OL to help out the room next year.

Texas A&M TE Jake Johnson will enter the transfer portal

Talented sophomore TE has entered his name into the transfer portal

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering his brother Max Johnson is transferring to North Carolina. It’s a tough loss as Johnson was starting to make some strides, but the Aggie tight end position currently has some decent depth.

We’ll need some time to see how it will shake out, but with Donovan Green returning from his injury, the starting spot should be in good hands.

With their presumed departures, a number of players have now entered the portal thus far, but keep an eye on defensive lineman Walter Nolen, who still has yet to enter after the recent hiring of new defensive line coach Sean Spencer.

The talented sophomore led the tight end group with 24 catches for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. There is a good chance we will join his brother in North Carolina as they will probably want to keep playing together for Max’s potential final college season.

We wish Jake the best and will keep our eye on the portal news to see if Elko brings in a veteran TE to help out the room next year.

Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart reveals truth about NIL at A&M

Star Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart subtly revealed just how false the NIL narrative remains surrounding the Aggies’ 2022 recruiting class.

Texas A&M star wide receiver Evan Stewart’s impending future with the program has left plenty of Aggie fans on their toes, but keeping up with Stewart’s social media updates is any indication of his current mindset; A&M is still very much in play.

In even more entertaining fashion, Stewart, a former five-star prospect within the Aggies’ historic 2022 recruiting class, defended the program from the accusations that NIL-related funds are flowing through it, leading prospects to choose the program due to its lucrative potential.

On Monday, current Texas A&M cornerback Bobby Taylor’s tweet concerning the recent news that A&M star defensive lineman Walter Nolen was considering his entry into the transfer portal led On3′ Hayes Fawcett to aggregate the statement as complete fact.

“No way 2 years ago you could’ve told me Jimbo would be fired, coaches leave, & half the class dips. How does that happen?”

Stewart, who has shared a locker room with Taylor for the past two seasons, emphatically responded,

I saw it coming freshman year when I didn’t get paid a dollar from a&m but “slice bread” had yall thinking we was all millionaires.” Stewart stated.

Yes, BroBibles’ “SlicedBread” has come back into the fold, as now-former Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher’s 2022 dismissal of an article written by the site referring to an unverified NIL fund compensating the 2022 class could not be verified, especially by someone named after a critical component to sandwich making.

After dealing with several injuries during the 2023 season, Stewart’s decision not to travel in the Aggies season finale vs. LSU created obvious speculation; the sophomore wideout still finished second on the team in receiving with 38 receptions, 514 yards, and four touchdowns.

Texas A&M Aggies Transfer Portal Tracker

Transfer Portal season is upon us and you can stay up to date on any moves with our portal tracker

The college football portal opened for the Aggies as soon as Jimbo was given his walking papers. Anytime there is a coaching change the thought is that there will be a lot of work by the new staff to work on keeping who they fit and grabbing who is available.

With the transfer portal essentially being a free agency for college athletes, programs have their work cut out for them. Like any new coach, I expect Mike Elko to try to keep coach Elijah Robinson on staff by any means necessary to help prevent some of the players on the fence from leaving. Also, to use the portal to his advantage as any coach should in this modern era to bring some players that fit what he wants to do.

The Aggies hopefully will be players in the offseason and could use experience at the Lineback position and should also poke around at the cornerback position to add more competition on the back end. As long we don’t see a mass exodus from Aggieland, they are a deep team with only a few positions of need.

We’ll track all transfers in or out right here for you to stay up to date!

Jimbo’s firing opens up transfer window for current players

With the firing of Jimbo Fisher, an immediate 30-day transfer window opens for any players that might want to get a jump start on their next school choice

When the news broke that Jimbo Fisher was being fired a number of questions flooded in from fans. One of the more pressing issues will be managing the roster now that a 30-day transfer portal has now opened for current players.

The official transfer portal does not open until December 4th, however, due to Jimbo Fisher being fired during the season a 30-day transfer period opens up for current Texas A&M players.

While we did see some concerned players across social media it was mainly just comments on being surprised by the move. However, we did see one player take advantage of the brief opening to announce he would be entering the transfer portal.

Freshman wide receiver Raymond Cottrell saw action in three games this season catching one pass for a 13-yard touchdown. We wish Cottrell the best and will keep you updated on any immediate portal entries.

The Jimbo Fisher era is officially over at Texas A&M, and there will be a number of changes of the next few months that will shape the future of the team for the next decade.

‘I did not feel like we were meeting those standards in excellence and leadership.’ Ross Bjork speaks on the firing of Jimbo Fisher

Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork issues a statement on the move to fire Jimbo Fisher and takes a few questions on Sunday evening.

It was announced on Sunday morning that Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher, causing a major shakeup for the team. Many flocked to social media for updates and any news they could find on the topic.

Whether you agree with the move or not, things have stagnated on the field over the past few years, and Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork believed it was time to make a change to get the football program to the next level. Bjork made the points to discuss leadership and possibly the next coach being more in tune with the changes across the NCAA football landscape.

Fisher brought a lot of good things to the Aggie program and always put a tough team on the field on Saturdays. The players never quit and spoke very highly of the Jimbo as their coach.

With Fisher out the door, Bjork will start the coaching search while naming Assistant Head Coach Elijah Robinson as the interim head coach until after the bowl game.

Below is the entire press conference and a few highlighted quotes.

Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork and Texas Senator Ted Cruz will have a sit down to discuss NIL legislation

Ross Bjork and Sen. Ted Cruz will hold a joint press conference before the Alabama game to discuss NIL legislation

The ever-evolving state of the NIL rules and regulations keeps athletic departments busy trying to keep up with the most recent changes. Not only do they have to deal with the NCAA Council, but they also have to deal with our elected officials with their own opinions that can lead to legislation.

To bridge that gap and to find some commonality, Aggie AD Ross Bjork and Sen. Ted Cruz will have an informal joint press conference before the Alabama game to discuss the topic of NIL legislation, per Travis Brown of The Eagle.

NIL usually brings varying opinions from across the spectrum, but for now, the genie is out of the bottle, and rules must be established to protect all parties involved. Especially the young student-athletes, some of whom might be making millions, a certain level of scrutiny to monitor any predatory contracts. The NCAA council recently passed measures regarding the NIL and other topics that you can check out here.

Ross Bjork is a massive proponent of athletes being able to benefit from their likeness, and there isn’t a much better person to have to fight for those benefits than Bjork. When more news comes, we will provide the latest information and quotes from the press conference. Until then, thanks and Gig’em.

The NCAA Council votes to makes changes to the transfer portal rules

The transfer portal will look a little different as the NCAA approves measures to reduce the transfer window

The rules for NCAA athletics are ever-changing, and on Wednesday, the NCAA Council ruled on several issues, including new rules for the transfer portal.

Starting in the 2023-2024 academic year, the transfer portal will be reduced from its current 60 days to 45 days. With the implementation of NIL, I believe the rules for the transfer portal needed to be tightened alongside protecting the athletes receiving these deals. The 45-day format will now have 30 days following the end of the regular season to enter into the portal, and the spring portal should remain the same at 15 days during April.

This should help provide some stability when putting together a roster, especially since recruiting is now a 24/7 job. Jimbo Fisher said it best when describing one of the reasons for giving up playcalling. Recruiting not only entails recruiting high school players and transfers, but you must also recruit your current roster to keep them from leaving.

The transfer portal changes took the main stage, but the council also voted on several other measures, including gambling penalties and NIL protections. You can dive a little deeper into those rules here.

Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart ranks top five in NIL valuation

What does Texas A&M’s Evan Stewart have in common with the likes of Shedeur Sanders, Caleb Williams, and Travis Hunter? They all firmly rank top five in NIL valuation.

Texas A&M‘s Evan Stewart continues to rise in the ranks of all-time Aggie wide receiver accolades, but he already boasts a top-five ranking in one category off the field. In a recent name, image, and likeness licensing valuation ranking, the Aggie wideout was ranked top five among college football athletes.

Stewart’s valuation is behind the likes of Colorado’s Shedeuer Sanders, Texas‘ Arch Manning, USC’s Caleb Williams, and Buffaloes’ two-way phenom Travis Hunter. Truth be told, being in that company is a feat in itself, as all four individuals are either currently, or will be, the faces of college football.

Each student-athlete’s respective valuation speaks to their ability to maximize their achievements on the playing field.

On top of boasting nearly 1 million followers on Instagram and over 700,000 followers on TikTok, Stewart holds a handful of name, image, and likeness licensing deals with reputable brands. Among them is the luxury fashion brand Coach, unveiled in April.

The news comes off the heels of Texas A&M announcing the launch of Texas Aggies United, the official name, image, and likeness licensing partner of Aggie Athletics and Texas A&M Sports Properties. The partner will work directly with student-athletes to maximize their potential through name, image, and likeness licensing deals, and Stewart should be among the most high-profile names to benefit from the launch.
