Ranking the enrollment of every SEC schools including UGA

The Southeastern Conference is well known for its athletic dominance, particularly in football. However, following the conference’s recent additions of the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas, the SEC now has over 600,000 total students.

The SEC is home to some of the largest colleges in the country. Thirteen of the SEC’s 16 schools have over 30,000 enrolled students. The average SEC school has 37,912 students enrolled. It is no wonder that with such large enrollments that the SEC is also home to some of the largest college football stadiums in the country.

Enrollment figures include both graduate and undergraduate students. We used the enrollment totals from the SEC media guides of each school entering the 2024 college football season. These enrollments numbers are primarily from the 2023-2024 academic year.

Former Georgia Bulldog wins silver medal in 100 breaststroke

Former UGA swimmer wins silver medal in the Paris Olympics and finishes 0.03 seconds from winning gold

Former Georgia Bulldogs standout swimmer Nic Fink won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Fink, who represents Team USA, tied Great Britain’s Adam Peaty to win a silver medal in the 100 meter breaststroke event.

Fink and Peaty came inches from securing gold. Fink and Peaty both finished with times of 59.05. The gold medal winner, Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi won with a time of 59.03.

The 100 meter breaststroke is Fink’s only individual event at the Olympic Games.

“With Adam (Peaty), he’s a legend in the sport. To share the podium with him, let alone the silver medal, it’s an awesome experience,” said Fink after claiming second place. “And to see Nicolo there as well, it’s really fun.โ€

ESPN ranks UGA baseball’s Charlie Condon as No. 1 MLB draft prospect

Georgia baseball star Charlie Condon is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 MLB draft, which is less than a week away

Georgia Bulldogs baseball star third baseman Charlie Condon completed a historic season with the Bulldogs. Now, ESPN ranks Condon as the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 MLB draft. The 2024 MLB draft will take place July 14-16 in Fort Worth, Texas.

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel explained (subscription required) why Condon is his top prospect in the draft.

“Condon is narrowly the top prospect in this draft, just ahead of Travis Bazzana. Both have an elite combo of hit, approach, raw power and game power with some defensive value,” said McDaniel.
“The separators for Condon are his underrated combination of hit tool and pitch selection for a player with his power potential, his physical size (6-foot-6), his underrated potential to stick at third base and that he played in the best amateur conference in the country for two seasons.”

Charlie Condon is both Georgia’s single-season and all-time home run leader. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound MLB draft prospect is the best power hitter in Georgia baseball history while hitting a remarkable .433 (best in the country) with 37 home runs, 57 walks, and 78 RBIs. Condon finished an amazing season and is a big reason why Georgia hosted a super regional this year.

Condon earned numerous honors for his 2024 season including winning the Golden Spikes Award and the Howser Trophy. Georgia first baseman Corey Collins is ranked as the No. 146 prospect in the draft.

Eight Georgia golfers competing in the U.S. Open

Eight former University of Georgia golfers (most of any college) are competing in the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2

Eight Georgia Bulldog golfers are competing in the 2024 U.S. Open, which will be held from June 13-16. The U.S. Open is the third major of the year and is being held at the famous Pinehurst No. 2 course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Eight former Georgia golfers are among the U.S. Open’s 156-man field, which means that over five percent of the field in the U.S. Open played collegiate golf at the University of Georgia. Georgia has more golfers competing on the PGA Tour than any other college program.

Brian Harman’s victory of The Open Championship in 2023 marks the last time a former UGA player on the PGA Tour won a major. Chris Kirk, who won The Sentry in January, is the only former Georgia golfer to win on the PGA Tour this year.

Scottie Schleffer is considered the favorite for the U.S. Open. Schleffer has five wins this season including The Masters.

Kirby Smart lists his Athens home for sale

UGA football coach Kirby Smart is selling his home and it is the most expensive home on the market in Athens.

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has listed his Athens, Georgia, home for sale at $4.2 million. Smart, who recently became the highest-paid coach in college football, is not going to leave Georgia anytime soon.

Smart’s home is the most expensive listing for sale in Athens. Whoever ends up buying Smart’s home will get a 2.2 acre property with a seven-bedroom, 7.5-bath house that is approximately 7,100 square feet.

Smart has a little more free time in the offseason, so it makes sense he is listing his home at this time of year.

“Elegance and history have been combined into one beautiful package here, with an original 1920s stone cottage attached to a newer home,” said Jennifer Geddes of Realtor.com. “A coffered ceiling graces the main room, which flows to a huge kitchen with professional-grade appliances. Thereโ€™s a large island, a wine fridge, and a walk-in pantry with a coffee station.”

Smart frequently hosts recruits at his home, so he has to have a place that can accommodate numerous guests. Smart’s home is located in the Five Points neighborhood of Athens.

The Dawgs went 43-19 on the season with ton of quality wins. However, Georgia had a bit of slump to end the season after getting the year off to a hot start. UCLA won Game 1 against Georgia 8-0 and then topped the Bulldogs 6-1 in Game 2. The Bruins are advancing to the Women’s College World Series.

“Congratulations to UCLA, they really put themselves in a position where they’re playing good softball in all phases of the game,” said Georgia softball coach Tony Baldwin. “I think they’re about as complete a team as we’ve played and we’ve played a lot of good ones.”

The Bulldogs were hoping to make a run to the Women’s College World Series, but came up just short in the Los Angeles Super Regional.

“They’re just good kids,” said Baldwin on Georgia’s senior class. “Good people, that have grown. We all have shortcomings that we’re trying to overcome in our lives, and you have to tackle some of those things head-on. I think the beautiful thing about college softball, and what I hope Georgia softball is it’s a safe place to grow as a person.”
