WATCH: Jacoby Brissett, Marcus Johnson connect for 46-yard TD

Take a look at the touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Marcus Johnson against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Indianapolis Colts got on the board early against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium thanks to a bomb touchdown from quarterback Jacoby Brissett to wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

Following Darius Leonard’s third interception on the season, the Colts found a big play downfield in broken coverage on a third-and-six. Brissett had great pocket mobility to step up and deliver the bomb.

Quenton Nelson has words with Bradley Pinion after getting hit with punt

Don’t make Q angry.

There are typically a list of people in the world that you wouldn’t want to make angry. Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson is one of them, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Bradley Pinion managed to do that Sunday.

During pregame warmups, Nelson was hit in the head by one of Pinion’s punts. The All-Pro guard made his way over to have some words with the punter while visibly upset. He even brushed off one of his teammates trying to get his attention.

Nelson walked over to Pinion, likely with some choice words and then walked back to the sideline where he picked up a football and punted it.

Nelson already plays with a vigor that most players dream about possessing, and the Bucs punter just gave the second-year guard more reason to have some afternoon pancakes.

Jack Doyle contract: TE can make up to $24M in extension

Jack Doyle gets a sweet deal on a 3-year extension.

The Indianapolis Colts announced some big news Friday, locking up veteran tight end Jack Doyle to a three-year extension.

The leader in the tight end room got a sweet deal thanks to producing on the field and being a valued leader in the locker room. The extension gives Doyle $21 million in new money while also having the chance to make a total of $24 million with incentives, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

It wasn’t clear if the Colts were going to give Doyle an extension, but their intentions to keep him around couldn’t have been more clear. Despite being at the age of 29, the Colts believe Doyle has plenty left to contribute to the offense.

This is a solid deal for both sides. It isn’t clear what the incentives are for the Western Kentucky product, but the Colts don’t have to overpay for a valuable tight end that has produced as a receiver and run blocker. Doyle also gets a nice pay upgrade from his previous contract.

The tight end room now consists of Doyle, Mo Alie-Cox and Ross Travis on the active roster. Eric Ebron is currently on the injured reserve and is an impending free agent for the 2020 offseason. It isn’t clear if he, too, will get another contract from the Colts.

Regardless, this was a great move for the Colts both personnel-wise and in a fiscal sense.

Colts sign TE Jack Doyle to 3-year extension

Jack Doyle gets three more years.

The Indianapolis Colts signed veteran tight end Jack Doyle to a three-year extension, the team announced Friday.

Doyle has been the epitome of what the Colts want in their tight end room and leadership in the locker room. With both Doyle and Eric Ebron set to hit free agency, it was a smart move for the Colts to lock up the productive, dual-threat tight end.

As one of the best blocking tight ends in the NFL, Doyle is also a sneaky possession tight end. He’s always a reliable target in the short-intermediate passing game and has been everything the Colts ask for in a locker room leader.

On the season, Doyle has 36 receptions for 377 yards and four touchdowns. His impact goes far beyond the box score as he is one of the reasons the Colts are able to run the ball so efficiently on the edge.

The Colts signed Doyle to a three-year extension ahead of the 2017 season. It was Chris Ballard’s first since taking over the general manager position during that offseason.

With Doyle now under contract through the 2022 season, the Colts will continue to add depth to a tight end position that holds much value in the offense.

Colts’ Adam Vinatieri (knee) week to week

Adam Vinatieri is week to week with four games left.

Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri had a flare-up with a knee injury this week and has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is likely week to week with the injury.

Vinatieri wasn’t sure if his season would be over while awaiting the results of an MRI on his knee. Head coach Frank Reich told the media Friday that Vinatieri’s season isn’t over yet, and the hasn’t gotten to the point of discussing a trip to the injured reserve list.

“At this point that has not been discussed. It’s just kind of a week-to-week thing. We’ll just monitor it and see how it responds,” Reich said. “That will be a week-to-week deal.”

The 46-year-old kicker has been far from himself this season. His combined 14 missed kicks are the most he’s ever had in a career and the third-most ever in a season.

In his 24th season, Vinatieri has been a lock for production and consistency throughout his career. It simply hasn’t been the same in 2019 whether he’s dealing with injury or flat-out missing kicks by a wide margin.

While Vinatieri doesn’t appear to be heading to the injured reserve list right now, his week to week status with essentially three games remaining means there is a high chance—even a likely one—that the veteran doesn’t return this season.

Colts’ Parris Campbell, Marlon Mack expected to play Week 14

Colts get a pair of big-play threats back from injury.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-6) have been dealing with significant injuries throughout the entire 2019 season, but it seems they will be seeing the return of two big-play threats to the offensive side of the ball in Week 14 when they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7).

Even though three starters were ruled out on Friday head coach Frank Reich told the media that they are expecting to see the return of running back Marlon Mack and rookie wide receiver Parris Campbell, both of which have been recovering from a fractured hand.

“For tomorrow I will give you the fact that Parris (Campbell) and Marlon (Mack) barring any setbacks, they will play,” Reich said.

This is big for an offense that is already without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. With the season likely on the line in this one, the Colts need all the help they can get on the offensive side of the ball.

Mack was enjoying a Pro-Bowl caliber season before injuring his hand on a run in the Week 9 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has taken 192 carries for 862 yards and four touchdowns.

The Colts aren’t expected to give Mack a pitch count against the second-rank Bucs run defense. The big-play threat will need to carry the offense despite the tough matchup, especially with so many weapons being injured.

Campbell should get a big opportunity to show he can thrive in a bigger role. With Hilton out, the Colts will rely on Campbell, Zach Pascal and Marcus Johnson to lead the way in the wide receiver room.

The Colts have their backs against the wall in this Week 14 matchup, but they will be seeing the return of two big-play threats to the offense.

Colts rule out 3 starters vs. Bucs in Week 14

T.Y. Hilton, two others ruled out on Friday.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich ruled out three players on Friday ahead of the Week 14 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.

The other two players that Reich ruled out were cornerback Kenny Moore (ankle) and veteran kicker Adam Vinatieri (knee). Hilton and Vinatieri weren’t expected to play this week and while Moore didn’t practice all week, it still wasn’t clear if he would be ruled out.

He has, and now the Colts will be without three key players against a tough Bucs team that has won three of their last four games.

The Colts are looking at their playoff hopes dwindle even more as each day passes. The injuries have been nearly insurmountable and while they stayed competitive during the beginning of the season, it seems to have finally had enough of an impact to end their playoff hopes, especially with the team losing four of their last five games.

The Colts will release their injury designations later on Friday, which will give a better idea of the status of others entering the weekend. However, they will be without three key starters on Sunday.

Colts remain 3.5-point underdogs vs. Bucs

Colts are road dogs in Week 14.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-6), having lost four of their last five games, aren’t viewed as the favorites in the Week 14 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7) at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.

Opening the week as 3.5-point underdogs against the Bucs, the line remains the exact same now as it did earlier in the week. Indy will be entering the weekend as 3.5-point road dogs when they hit the tarmac trying to make something of their season, per BetMGM.

This is crunch time for the Colts even though their odds to make the playoffs are extremely thin as it stands right now. They are currently the No. 9 seed in the playoff race and don’t hold any tiebreakers with the teams that are ahead of them (Titans, Steelers, Raiders).

It has been a long road from their 5-2 start. The offense hasn’t been nearly what it was at the beginning of the season. Over the last five games, the Colts have averaged a measly 19.8 points per game.

They will have a tough opponent in the Bucs. While they are streaky, the Bruce Arians-led unit has won three of their last four games and are one of the best run defenders in the entire NFL. Their pass rush is also led by the current leader in sacks in Shaq Barrett (14.5).

If the Colts lose this game, it is likely that their season becomes unsalvagable. To compound the issues, they enter the Week 14 matchup as underdogs.
