Who is the best fantasy football value on the New York Jets?

One New York Jets wide receiver might be a great fantasy football value.

A revamped offensive line and a healthy Aaron Rodgers are paramount to the New York Jets‘ projections for the upcoming season. But one playmaker who isn’t getting much offseason busy might be one to watch this fall for the Jets.

An ACL tear cut short wide receiver Mike Williams’ season last year with the Los Angeles Chargers. But if healthy, Williams can be a difference-maker for the Jets.

In 2021 across 16 games, Williams had 76 catches for 1,146 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. And in 2022, he had 63 catches for 895 yards with four touchdowns in a season where he was limited to 13 games.

If the Jets can get the kind of impact from Williams seen in the seasons prior to his injury, then the 29-year-old can and will be a significant part of what should be an improved offense.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport underscored this by saying that Williams is a fantasy value pick while noting his injury last year:

But as recently as 2022, Williams was a top-25 wide receiver in terms of PPR points per game, and playing opposite Garrett Wilson should mean lots of single coverage. He’s a steal at this modest ADP if he can stay healthy.

Williams has the potential to be a tremendous No. 2 alongside Garrett Wilson.

Jason McIntyre unveils his Super Bowl contenders…where are the New York Jets?

Jason McIntyre believes in the New York Jets.

The New York Jets are among the elite teams in the NFL. So says Jason McIntyre during a recent appearance on ‘The Herd.’

McIntyre lists the Jets as among his favorites to make the Super Bowl. They are alongside the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals in his top tier.

For those who are interested, the New York Giants are in the bottom tier. So to are the New England Patriots.

McIntyre, who created The Big Lead, is a noted fan of the Jets. But he is absolutely bullish on the direction of the organization and the potential for not just a return to playoffs, but a deep postseason run.

“I have them as favorites in 13 of 17 games. Pro Football Focus has their offensive line, they 31st last year. They are fifth this year because they’ve gotten so much better,” McIntyre said on FS1.

“Obviously Aaron Rodgers is everything but the offensive line is way better. Pass defense, No. 1 in the NFL. A guy at ESPN said that the Jets linebackers graded out as tied with the Niners as the best in the league.

“Folks, this team is stacked, ridiculously stacked.”

The Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010. The hope is that with a healthy Rodgers and a revamped offensive line, that the Jets can once again be in the postseason.

[lawrence-related id=694928,694925,694919]

And the compelling case from McIntyre certainly speaks to the optimism around the team.

McIntyre ended the segment by saying of the Jets that “they will be in the mix, one of the top five…one of the five favorites to win the Super Bowl.”

Former Jets head coach Eric Mangini slams Aaron Rodgers for ‘all the noise that is brought into the building’

Eric Mangini slams Aaron Rodgers for missing mandatory minicamp.

Former New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini believes that Aaron Rodgers’ absence from last month’s minicamp is the direct opposite of what the organization needs heading into the season.

Rodgers missed mandatory minicamp last month to take a trip to Egypt. For Rodgers, it was the first time all offseason that he missed a workout or a practice at the Jets facility.

And because it is the Jets, the situation is now a huge talking point and one that is under the microscope. Rodgers, a future Hall of Fame quarterback, is coming off a season-ending Achilles injury that he suffered in Week 1 of the regular season.

Despite the injury, Rodgers did not take time off from the team and has been fully engaged in offseason workouts. But the optics of the trip, according to Mangini, is what matters the most right now.

But Mangini, who coached the Jets from 2006-08, sees the timing of the trip as something that the Jets as an organization simply don’t need ahead of a season of expectations. In speaking on ‘The Herd,’ Mangini believes that the minicamp miss by Rodgers is an important issue for the team.

“It all matters and I really like Aaron Rodgers as a quarterback, and I predicted that the Jets would win the division last year if Aaron had played – and I do believe that he still has the ability to win,” Mangini said on FS1 this week.

“What’s disappointing about that situation is he was the one that talked about the importance of limiting distraction. He was the one that would talk about the importance of focusing on only football.

“And all the things that he preaches in the press conference. And then you get in this situation where he misses the mandatory minicamp, and I get that he was at the voluntary part and I think that’s great. But it’s not a secret when mandatory minicamp is. This year was actually a little bit earlier than last year’s mandatory mini-camp for the Jets. And then you understand when vacation is and if you have a trip that’s planned, you can set it up in a way that it doesn’t disturb the one thing that you’re required to do in the off season.

Mangini then went all-in on the importance of Rodgers missing minicamp in terms of the big picture for the Jets.

[lawrence-related id=694919,694921]

“So it does it matter, in the grand scheme of things, in terms of him missing those two days is going to dramatically change how he performs, or the other group performs? No, but it’s more indicative of all the noise that’s brought into the building that’s so unnecessary and distracts from everything else that they’re trying to get,” Mangini said.

“And at the end of the day, if he doesn’t win this year – he’s gone. The coaching staff is gone. And the Jets are starting – probably the GM is gone. Everybody’s starting over.”

Mangini led the Jets to the playoffs in 2006, their only postseason appearance in his three years with the organization. He has an overall record of 23-25 from his time in New York.

Retired NFL running back Bilal Powell makes a bold statement about the New York Jets

Bilal Powell makes a bold prediction about the New York Jets.

Former New York Jets running back Bilal Powell believes that the New York Jets can go the distance this year.

Powell played the entirety of his nine-year NFL career with the Jets.

In a social media post, Powell didn’t just underscore the optimism about the Jets this year. He took it to a whole other level. In responding to a social media post about Pro Football Focus ranking the Jets as having the fourth-most talented roster in the NFL, Powell said that his old team can win the AFC East this year.

And not just win the AFC East, but make it the Super Bowl.

And not just make it to the Super Bowl, but win it too.

It isn’t a crazy outlook from Powell, who likely is having a bit of fun with his prediction. But in Powell’s statement, there is plenty of truth too.

Following last season’s disappointment, the Jets certainly have a pathway towards more wins and it centers on Aaron Rodgers. Powell seems to be in on this optimism.

What happened to Rodgers and the Jets last year needs not be re-hashed. But even with the Jets missing their starting quarterback for nearly the entirety of the season, head coach Robert Saleh still managed to guide the team to competitiveness and a 7-10 record.

[lawrence-related id=694921,694914,694909]

If Rodgers can stay on the field and be healthy, then the Jets can very easily flip that record at a minimum…if not win the AFC East.

Perhaps Powell knows what he is talking about after all?

Davante Adams says Aaron Rodgers is still talking about him joining the Jets

Aaron Rodgers still wants Davante Adams to join him with the New York Jets.

Apparently, Aaron Rodgers is lobbying Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams to join him with the New York Jets.

Adams spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with Rodgers as a member of the Green Bay Packers. And while Adams has two more years on his contract after this season (there is an opt-out for the Raiders that would result in a $15.7 million salary cap hit), there will always be speculation that the playmaker and quarterback could be re-united again in New York.

Now, Adams did nothing to pour any fuel on the fire that he wants out of Las Vegas. He didn’t make any trade demands or indicate that he had any concerns about the franchise’s future.

In answering a question from Kay Adams on the ‘Up & Adams’ show, Davante Adams was asked if his former teammate was trying to link up with him again.

He simply said that Rodgers is still talking to him about joining the Jets.

“He’s in that ear, that’s for sure. He’s in the ear,” Davante Adams told Kay Adams.

“It’s not as easy – obviously we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that. Like I said, I’m a Raider, he knows that.”

Truth be told, there is nothing much to see here at this point.

Last season, Davante Adams had 103 receptions for 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

He has been a first-team All-Pro selection three times in his NFL career.

Now could the Raiders want to trade Adams? They sure could and Las Vegas might want to send him to a contending team if they can get the right draft pick compensation back.

After all, he is set to turn 32 years old this December, meaning that the Raiders likely will want to get something back from their sizable investment when they acquired him in a trade in 2022.

But it isn’t an easy move, given his contract size and the compensation needed to get a deal done. Fun to talk about for Jets fans, but this one just doesn’t seem likely.

And it isn’t like Rodgers chirping about a reunion in New York is going to effectuate this change.

No surprise here as Quinnen Williams makes ESPN’s list of top defensive tackles

In an ESPN survey of NFL executives, Quinnen Williams of the New York Jets is one of the league’s top defensive tackles. #Jets #NYJ

Quinnen Williams is among the best defensive tackles in the league, with the New York Jets star making a move in a recent poll ranking from ESPN.

Chris Jones was ranked atop the ranking with Williams checking in at second on the list. Following a strong season with the Jets, Williams makes the move up from fourth in last year’s ranking.

The results come via a poll of 80 league executives and scouts conducted by ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.

Set to enter his sixth season in the NFL, Williams had 62 total tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Jets in 2024.

The poll results come after Monday’s release by ESPN of the top running backs in the NFL where Jets star Breece Hall was also second in the league.

[lawrence-related id=694912,694905,694903]

Williams was a first-round pick of the Jets in the 2019 NFL draft. He was an All-Pro selection in 2022 and has twice been named to the Pro Bowl.

PFF ranks the wide receiver rooms in the NFL…where did the Jets rank?

PFF ranks the New York Jets wide receivers room.

There are a lot of questions about the New York Jets on offense heading into the 2024 season. One of the biggest questions centers is the talent and depth at wide receiver.

Of course, the Jets have viable questions along the offensive line and at quarterback too. But the questions at wide receiver remain a focal point heading into training camp.

There is only one established playmaker at wide receiver for the Jets in third-year star Garrett Wilson.

Coming off a sophomore season in the NFL where he had 95 catches for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns, Wilson’s numbers are even more staggering when considering that the Jets had the third-worst passing offense in the NFL last season.

All of which led Pro Football Focus to rank the Jets at No. 19 in terms of wide receiver talent:

“Garrett Wilson is a star receiver, and a fully healthy season from Aaron Rodgers should only highlight that even more.

Breece Hall is a very good receiver out of the backfield, but outside of him, there are a lot of unknowns. Mike Williams, while a solid flier signing, is recovering from a torn ACL. Perhaps better quarterback play will elevate everyone on the team. Time will tell.”

[lawrence-related id=694907,694905,694903]

The Jets took Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Day 2, a draft pick who can and should help the passing offense. Corley put up some impressive career numbers at Western Kentucky with 259 career receptions for 2,943 yards along with 29 touchdowns.

Awful Announcing compares Bronny James to…Tim Tebow?

Is Bronny James the new Tim Tebow?

Following his professional debut last week, Bronny James is getting plenty of critical takes for a lackluster performance. Takes that are now seeing James compared to Tim Tebow, who spent the 2012 season with the New York Jets.

During his one season with the Jets, Tebow was a backup quarterback and a personal punt protector who also operated out of the wildcat formation. A Heisman winner, Tebow played three years in the NFL.

He appeared in 35 games (16 starts) and went 8-6 as a starting quarterback. He threw for 2,422 yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions (he completed 47.9 percent of his passes).

Tebow also ran for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns in his three-year NFL career.

James made his NBA Summer League debut last week, scoring four points on 2-of-9 shooting. He played 21 minutes.

The breathless talk around James, a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Lakers who is the son of LeBron James), led to this comparison by Awful Announcing:

“This was seen for many years with Tim Tebow in particular, through his NFL career and (especially) his minor-league baseball career. But it’s come up with many others as well since then, and the latest example there is with the way ESPN covered Bronny James’ Summer League debut Saturday afternoon.”

Tebow’s time with the Jets was disappointing, something that the now-retired quarterback has been able to joke about.

But, Tebow still won games when he was allowed on the field – he did lead the Denver Broncos to the playoffs in 2011. Interesting comparison to say the least and one that will cause Jets fans a certain level of agitation, remembering the failure of that 2012 season.

[lawrence-related id=694905,694903]

Bronny James, however, doesn’t have the college resume or production that Tebow did at Florida. Tebow at least was a calculated gamble by the Denver Broncos and the Jets that his college career pointed towards NFL success.

New York Jets center Joe Tippmann got married this weekend (can’t dance)

Joe Tippmann said “I do” this weekend.

One ring down for New York Jets center Joe Tippmann, and one left to go.

Tippmann tied the knot over the weekend, the second-year player signing a lifetime contract of a different sort. And the wedding comes weeks before the start of a highly anticipated Jets training camp, one where Tippmann and his teammates are expected to contend for a Super Bowl ring.

(Although the ring he got this weekend likely trumps the Super Bowl in his wife’s eyes).

First things first for the Jets is a return to the playoffs. This is the best and most balanced roster the Jets have had since 2010, which was the last time the franchise made the playoffs.

And Tippmann is a big reason for the optimism around the Jets.

A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, Tippmann was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team. He played in 16 games for the Jets, making 14 starts.

If Tippmann can take a step forward in 2024, it would be huge for the Jets, especially given the expectations around the rebuilt offensive line.

Where did Breece Hall ranks in ESPN’s list of the top running backs in the NFL?

Breece Hall of the New York Jets gets a significant ranking from ESPN.

Breece Hall is among the best running backs in the NFL according to a recent ESPN survey of NFL executives. The expectation is that the New York Jets running back is set to join the elite of the NFL this season.

In the ESPN survey, Hall ranked second in the NFL, behind only Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers. McCaffrey and the 49ers will host the Jets in the season opener.

Coming off a very strong year, Hall can and should be even more productive in 2024. As he enters his third season in the NFL, Hall will not only be more experienced but also should be a part of a better and more balanced offense.

Last season, Hall had 1,585 yards of total offense and nine total touchdowns (994 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns). Given the state of the Jets offensive line, his 4.5 yards per carry is certainly impressive.

Now imagine the damage Hall could have done in 2023 had the offense been a functioning unit.

Without Aaron Rodgers last year, the Jets were second-worst in the NFL in total offense and third from the bottom in passing. If the Jets have even a rudimentary passing offense, then opposing defenses will be unable to effectively stack the box.
