Injury news: Josh Allen questionable for a return vs. Raiders after shoulder (stinger) injury

The Jags may be without their leading pass-rusher, Josh Allen, for the rest of Week 15’s game against the Raiders.

Despite the Jacksonville Jaguars being down 16-3, their pass rush has been strong. Unfortunately, a key member for the unit may not return after the half though.

Rookie pass rusher Josh Allen was helped off the field in the second after sustaining a shoulder (stinger) injury. The injury was a result of friendly fire as fellow pass-rusher Calais Campbell accidentally kneed him in the shoulder.

Allen was having a great game, racking up two tackles. One of those tackles were a sack, putting him at 10 on the year, and the other was a tackle for loss.  With the sack, he became one of six players to have double-digit sacks as a rookie since 2010.

With the game currently at half-time, we’ll provide an update on Allen’s status when the third quarter starts.

WR D.J. Chark ruled out vs. Raiders on Week 15’s final injury report

The Jags will be without one player Sunday: receiver DJ Chark (ankle). Per Doug Marrone he’ll remain home and continue to recover.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without just one player Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, but it will be one of their top stars. Receiver DJ Chark Jr. was ruled out and will remain in Jacksonville to continue his recovery from the ankle injury he sustained against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Jags were already viewed as 6.5-point underdogs earlier in the week and not having their top receiver, and one who is one of the best in football, will make things harder. Add in the fact that the Jags will be in a very hostile environment due to the Raiders playing in their last game at RingCentral Coliseum (a.k.a. Oakland Coliseum), and most fans will have an even harder time believing in the Jags Week 15.

The Raiders’ final injury report had both offensive lineman Trent Brown and cornerback Daryl Worley ruled as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Jaguars Week 15 injury report: WR DJ Chark still not participating due to ankle injury

DJ Chark’s status against the Raiders seems to be in danger as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

There were only two changes made to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ injury report Thursday as both veterans Calais Campbell (back) and Brandon Linder (knee) were upgraded from being non-participants on Wednesday to limited participants on Thursday. Both veterans typically start the week with a day of not participating, however, their status on Thursday indicates that both will ease their way to full participation Friday.

The only player who didn’t practice Thursday was receiver DJ Chark. He’s still recovering from the ankle injury he sustained in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers when defensive back Jaylen Watkins tackled him and the second-year receiver was taken to the medical room. However, head coach Doug Marrone told the media that Chark would travel with the team, but his chances right now look slim after missing two days of practice.

On the Oakland Raiders’ end, there were two players who were on Wednesday’s injury report that had a change in status. Offensive guard Gabe Jackson (knee) was downgraded to not participating after being limited Wednesday, while receiver Hunter Renfrow (rib) was upgraded to limited participation.

There were also two editions to the list in receiver Marcell Ateman (rib) and safety Erik Harris (hamstring), both of whom were limited.

9 Jags surface on initial injury report for Week 15’s game vs. Raiders

The Jacksonville Jaguars had nine players to surface on their initial injury report for Week 15’s game against the Oakland Raiders, but only three didn’t practice. Those three players were receiver DJ Chark Jr. (ankle), defensive lineman Calais Campbell (back) and center Brandon Linder (knee).

The staff has routinely been careful with Campbell and Linder throughout the year, so their situations were expected. Chark, on the other hand, isn’t a surprise either when considering he left the locker room Sunday with a boot and scooter.

Chark sustained his ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers when defensive back Jaylen Watkins was making a tackle on him. In the process of trying to break free for extra yards, Chark injured his ankle and was eventually taken to the medical room of TIAA Bank Field.

The Jags had three players who were limited Wednesday in receiver Dede Westbrook (shoulder), cornerback Tre Herndon (shoulder) and linebacker Quincy Williams (hand). As we reported earlier, Williams was eventually placed on injured reserve and the Jags claimed linebacker Preston Brown off waivers to fill his vacant roster spot.

Tight end Seth DeValve, who has been sidelined by an oblique injury since the Jags returned from their bye week, practiced in full Wednesday and looks to be on track to make his return. Cornerback A.J. Bouye (calf) and safety Ronnie Harrison (concussion) joined him as full participants.

The notable name of the day on the Raiders’ injury report was rookie tailback Josh Jacobs (shoulder). He was limited Wednesday after missing the Raiders’ last game against the Tennessee Titans and is expected to play against the Jags.

The rest of Oakland’s injury report for Wednesday is as follows:

DJ Chark week-to-week with ankle injury, Ronnie Harrison ready to return from concussion

DJ Chark Jr. will be week-to-week after injuring his ankle Sunday against the Chargers.

As expected, Jacksonville Jaguars safety Ronnie Harrison will be good to take the field for Week 15’s game against the Oakland Raiders after missing the team’s last two games. Doug Marrone told the media that the second-year safety cleared the concussion protocol in Monday’s conference call, which is a big positive as the Jags’ defense struggled in the backfield Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Marrone also provided an update on receiver DJ Chark, who was seen leaving the locker room in a boot and on a scooter after sustaining an injury Sunday against the Chargers.

Harrison sustained his injury in the first quarter of the Jags’ Week 12’s game against the Tennessee Titans after making a tackle on tight end MyCole Pruitt. As a result of the injury, the Jags thrusted Andrew Wingard into Harrison’s role, giving the undrafted rookie two starts.

Chark, on the other hand, sustained his injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Chargers while defensive back Jaylen Watkins was making a tackle on him. In the process of trying to get extra yardage and fight through the tackle, Chark seemingly injured his ankle and was helped to the locker room after being ruled questionable on the night.

Report: DJ Chark leaves locker room with boot and scooter after loss to Chargers

The Jags could have a big injury on their hands involving their No. 1 receiver DJ Chark Jr.

The Jacksonville Jaguars not only suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers, but they could have a big injury to deal with afterward. Per ESPN beat reporter Mike DiRocco, receiver DJ Chark was seen leaving the locker room in a protective boot while using a scooter.

Chark sustained the injury around the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter after catching a pass from rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II and trying to advance the ball upfield. Chargers defensive back Jaylen Watkins made a tackle on him and it appeared as though Chark injured his ankle due to making the extra effort for more yards. The trainers came to look at him on the field afterward and he limped to the sideline. He then was helped to the locker room and didn’t return with a questionable ruling.

Chark has been one of the Jags’ top playmakers this season and casual fans have also taken notice to his solid season, too. He was on his way to a 1000-yard season (finished with 956 Sunday), but it appears he may have to miss some time with just three games left. Then again, if the injury is severe enough the Jags might as well sit him for the season as the playoffs aren’t within reach.

Jags Week 14 inactives: Safety Ronnie Harrison to sit vs. Chargers

Jags safety Ronnie Harrison was close to returning from his Week 12 concussion, but will be held out against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday.

For the second consecutive week, Jacksonville Jaguars safety Ronnie Harrison won’t be active as the team takes on the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday. The second-year safety seemingly hasn’t been cleared to return from the concussion he sustained Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, so the Jags will roll with Andrew Wingard once again in his place.

The remainder of the Jags’ inactives against the Chargers are as follows:

It appeared as though Harrison had a chance to play after practicing Friday on a limited basis and being ruled questionable, but they instead will look to get him back healthy Week 15.

The other player to surface in the status column of Friday’s injury report, Seth DeValve, will also be inactive Sunday. He’s currently in the process of returning from an oblique injury that has sidelined him since before the Jags’ Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was ruled doubtful after practicing on a limited basis Friday, so it appears he’s closing in on a return soon, too.

As for the Chargers’ inactives, they had one notable surface on their list in starting linebacker Denzel Perryman.

The rest of their inactives are as follows:

Jags list TE Seth Devalve as doubtful, safety Ronnie Harrison as questionable vs. Chargers

The Jacksonville Jaguars released their final injury report for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and just two players surfaced in the status column. Those two players were safety Ronnie Harrison (concussion), who was ruled questionable and Seth Devalve (oblique), who was ruled doubtful.

Harrison missed the Jags’ last game against the Tampa Bay Bucs after sustaining a concussion in the first-quarter of the game prior against the Tennessee Titans. He didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but was limited Friday.

DeValve, on the other hand, hasn’t played since before the Jags’ bye week. He sustained an oblique injury heading into the Jags’ Week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts and hasn’t played in a game since. He was limited Friday, but it feels like the Jags are unlikely to push him at this point. He has a better chance to return later down the road if anything.

The remainder of the players on the Jags’ injury report were full participants, including notables DJ Chark, Dede Westbrook, Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye, Donald Payne and Brandon Linder.

Jaguars injury report: Bouye, Payne upgraded to full participation Thursday

The Jacksonville Jaguars had four players who were upgraded on their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Cornerback A.J. Bouye (calf) and linebacker Donald Payne (ankle) were both upgraded to full participation after both surfacing on the report as limited Wednesday.

Both veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell (back) and center Brandon Linder (knee) were upgraded to limited participation after not participating Wednesday, which is a good sign. With the final injury report set to be released Friday, both could follow last week’s trend where they were both upgraded to full in the last practice session of the week.

On offense, tight end Seth DeValve (oblique) was the only player on the injury report who didn’t practice. Receivers DJ Chark Jr. (back), Chris Conley (ankle) remained limited, while Dede Westbrook (personal) still didn’t practice.

On defense, corners D.J. Hayden (neck) and Tre Herndon (shoulder) still were limited, while safety Ronnie Harrison still didn’t practice due to the concussion he sustained against the Tennessee Titans Week 12.

The Jags also announce that linebacker Myles Jack would be going to injured reserve on their injury report. The news came after he missed last Wednesday and Thursday’s practice session and was limited last Friday. That led to him missing Week 13’s game against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Report: Jags LB Myles Jack headed to IR

The Jags will be placing one of their high-priced investments on IR in LB Myles Jack (knee).

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be losing yet another leader on their defense. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, middle linebacker Myles Jack (knee) is headed to injured reserve.

The decision comes after Jack missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday, but was limited Friday. Evidently the team may have found out he was nowhere near close to 100% and decided to shut him down with the playoffs out of reach.

Another factor that may have played into the decision was the fact that Donald Payne looked solid in his place Sunday against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The young linebacker was able to accumulate 13 total tackles against the Bucs and also had a sack on the day.

Jack’s designation onto IR comes after a disappointing season where he didn’t quite have the season some hoped for after receiving a four-year contract extension worth $57 million in totality and $33 million in guarantees. With a coaching change on the horizon, it’s no guarantee Jack will remain at MIKE linebacker heading forward as most thought he clearly is better suited to play on the outside.

He’ll end the season with 66 total tackles and a Pro Football Focus grade of 46.1.
