NFL world mocks Giants after Saquon Barkley’s TNF performance

From players to ex-executives to insiders and to fans, everyone mocked the New York Giants after Saquon Barkley’s TNF performance.

The Philadelphia Eagles took command of the NFC East on Thursday night with a 28-16 victory over the Washington Commanders but it’s actually the New York Giants who are now the center of attention.

Even as Philly fans celebrated the win, they shifted their focus toward Big Blue and publicly shamed them, chanting “Thank you, Giants!” so loudly that the Thursday Night Football Nightcap panel had to pause their segment on live television.

“It feels amazing,” Barkley said. “Last year was a tough year for me mentally.”

It was co-owner John Mara’s worst nightmare realized but it only got worse. The snowball began rolling downhill and before you knew it, everyone from across the football world decided to get their licks in.

An Eagles victory suddenly became about the Giants, Mara, and general manager Joe Schoen. And none of it was good.

The Giants are a laughingstock, they are the butt of every joke, and it doesn’t appear that anyone is holding back. Complete and total humiliation.

Giants vs. Panthers Player of the Game: Brian Burns

The New York Giants were defeated by the Carolina Panthers, 20-17, in Germany on Sunday and LB Brian Burns is our Player of the Game.

The New York Giants were defeated by the Carolina Panthers, 20-17, in Germany on Sunday and Brian Burns is our Player of the Game.

For the first time in franchise history, the Giants lose in Europe. With this 17-20 loss, New York falls to 2-8 and is currently the worst team in the NFL.

The Giants never led in this contest as they went down 10-0 at halftime and were a couple of plays away from completing a double-digit comeback.

The attempted comeback was led by the defense holding the Panthers to zero points in the fourth quarter and their premier edge rusher led the way in doing so.

Burns showed out in his revenge game. He finished with nine tackles (four solo), one sack, and two tackles for loss.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. was originally the pick for this honor with 103 total yards and a touchdown. However, he had a crucial fumble (out of bounds) in the red zone late in the fourth quarter that turned into an interception taking points off of the board.

The rookie also had a costly fumble at the start of overtime leading to a Panthers victory.

Giants vs. Panthers: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 10

The New York Giants visit the Carolina Panthers in Germany on Sunday morning in Week 10, and here are three reasons for optimism.

The New York Giants will play an international game in Munich, Germany this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Ahead of the Week 10 contest, the Giants snapped a streak of 24 straight games being listed as the underdog.

The Panthers notched their second win of the season in Week 9, snapping a five-game losing streak. On the Giants’ side, they will enter Sunday trying to snap a four-game losing streak.

Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of their Week 10 matchup.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

International win streak

The Giants have been very good in the games they have played across the pond. They played the Miami Dolphins in 2007, the Los Angeles Rams in 2016, and most recently, the Green Bay Packers in 2022 and they won them all. The Giants are hoping to improve to 4-0 in their international games on Sunday against the Panthers.

Picking up steam before the bye week

The Giants have also been very good in games ahead of the bye week throughout the team’s history. Believe it or not, Big Blue is 23-12 in games before a bye week, which is tied for the fourth-best record in such games in NFL history.

Brian Burns playing his former team

Arguably, the biggest move of the offseason for the Giants was going out and getting Brian Burns and signing him to a massive contract. Burns will go up against the team that drafted him for the first time on Sunday. He will certainly have a little extra motivation ahead of the game even if he tries to downplay it.

Fantasy Football: Potential bargains, must-plays from Giants-Panthers game

Here’s a look at some potential bargains for daily fantasy from the New York Giants-Carolina Panthers Week 10 game on Sunday morning.

The New York Giants head to Munich, Germany this Sunday to face the Carolina Panthers in a matchup between two 2-7 teams.

The ramifications of this game are basically for draft position as both teams’ postseason hopes are all but dead.

The game is not included in the main slate for DFS but will rather be a standalone “showdown” game, but will be included in the season-long leagues just as a Thursday or Monday night game would be.

Here is a quick rundown of our three top fantasy options in the game.

Joe Sargent/Getty Images

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.

The Panthers have been the worst team this season when it comes to defending against running backs. They have allowed 32.4 FPS on DraftKings and 29.3 FPS on FanDuel to running backs this season. That’s by far the most on both platforms.

Tracy, since getting his break in Week 5, has had three standout games but don’t forget he suffered a concussion two weeks ago which slowed him down. He should have no problem in this game as the Giants are preparing him for a full load.

Giants TE Theo Johnson

The Panthers have also been the most generous team when it comes to yielding points to tight ends. They are allowing 12.4 FPS in standard leagues and are first and second on DK and FD.

Johnson is becoming more trusted in the offense and has seen his target share rise in the past two weeks. He’s worth adding in showdown and a punt option in season-long.

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard

The Giants have been in the middle of the pack when it comes to allowing points to running backs but Hubbard has been a steady performer all season. The Panthers might not want to expose QB Bryce Young to the Giants’ pass rush and will likely try to establish the running game.

That has been where Hubbard has been of help. He is ninth among NFL RBs this season in FPS and has been ramping up the past few weeks.

Giants vs. Panthers: 3 causes for concern in Week 10

The New York Giants square off in a Sunday morning battle against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. Here are three reasons for concern.

The New York Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers across the pond in Germany as a part of the NFL’s international series this coming Sunday.

The game between the two teams may very well be one of the toughest sells in the NFL’s international history.

Despite the Giants coming in riding a four-game losing streak, Big Blue opened as favorites, and significant ones at that. With the Giants being favorites in this one, it breaks a 24-game streak where they were listed as underdogs.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are coming off their second win of the season, which snapped a five-game losing streak, having defeated the New Orleans Saints.

Here are three causes for concern ahead of Sunday’s game in Germany.

Defense in the Red Zone

Some of the Giants’ closest games this season have been close because of their defense’s ability to step up in the red zone. Believe it or not, the Panthers are eighth in the league in red zone efficiency. This could pose a threat to a Giants defense that struggled the last few games.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Pass rush gone silent

Last week, the Giants’ defensive front failed to register a sack in their game against the Washington Commanders; a team that they recorded five sacks against in their first meeting. As bad as the Panthers have been this season, if the Giants are going to win on Sunday, they cannot give Bryce Young time in the pocket.

Brad Penner-Imagn Images

Scoring points

The two biggest struggles for the Giants this year have been stopping the run on defense and putting points on the board on offense. The Giants’ offense ranks dead last in red zone efficiency and no matter who they play, it always seems to be a struggle to get points on the scoreboard for Big Blue.

Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from Panthers

The New York Giants are becoming increasingly desperate for a solid, effort cornerback which made this theft from the Panthers easy.

The New York Giants (2-7) will visit the Carolina Panthers (2-7) at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany this Sunday morning.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Panthers’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue for the second time this season.

The issue facing us this week is that Carolina’s roster is quite shallow, much like the Giants’ roster. They are in the early stages of a rebuild and have very little to choose from at the top of the depth chart.

One strongly considered option is offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu, who would make sense for the Giants with Andrew Thomas out for the season. However, Jermaine Eluemunor has played solid football at right tackle and Thomas will reassume his role at left tackle next year.

After that, there’s not much. Only one other name stood out as both a need and an upgrade: Cornerback Jaycee Horn.

While Horn is not an elite-level cornerback, he is very consistent and capable. He’s stout against the run — one of the best in football at the position — and grades out highly in coverage. One weak area is his inability to blitz and rush the passer, but that’s not really what the Giants need.

With Deonte Banks struggling on a weekly basis and displaying a lack of effort, Horn would immediately become CB1 in New York and upgrade the entire secondary.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Jaycee Horn or would you steal an entirely different player from the Carolina Panthers?

Giants vs. Commanders Player of the Game: Tyrone Tracy Jr.

The New York Giants were defeated by the Washington Commanders, 27-22, on Sunday and Tyrone Tracy Jr. is our Player of the Game.

The New York Giants were defeated by the Washington Commanders, 27-22, at MetLife Stadium in Week 9 and Tyrone Tracy Jr. is our Player of the Game.

The Commanders have now completed a season sweep of the Giants for the first time since 2021. New York was playing catch-up all game in this divisional matchup and did not have enough in the tank to complete the fourth-quarter comeback.

However, for the second straight week, Tracy Jr. is the Player of the Game as he had another solid game rushing the football. He finished the game with 66 yards rushing on 16 attempts and had one reception for three yards.

The stats are deceptive but the film on Tracy will look good.

The rookie had over 40 rushing yards in the first quarter. However, due to the game script, the run game had to be used only briefly after that.

The converted wide receiver has proven to be the icing on the cake in the fifth round of a draft class that has proven to be great despite the Giants’ 2-7 record.

Giants vs. Commanders: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 9

The New York Giants host the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon in Week 9, and here are three reasons for optimism.

The New York Giants will host the Washington Commanders on Sunday in Week 9, as they try to end their three-game losing streak.

The two teams will meet for the second time this season after the Giants dropped the first game against the Commanders, 21-18, back in Week 2.

Big Blue lost kicker Graham Gano early on due to roster management negligence and became the first team in NFL history to lose a game in regulation while scoring three-plus touchdowns and allowing no touchdowns.

The Giants remain four-point underdogs after opening up as 3.5-point home underdogs earlier this week.

Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of Sunday’s divisional game.

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Favorable matchup for Giants’ offense

The last time these two teams met back in Week 2, the Giants scored three offensive touchdowns, something they have only done twice this season.

New York’s offense has struggled mightily over the last three weeks. However, Daniel Jones should be looking forward to playing a Commanders team which he has had success against in his career.

Luke Johnson-Imagn Images

Red zone defense

As it has been highlighted following the matchup in Week 2, the Giants were on the wrong side of history. The bad news is that the Commanders had their way getting down the field at will, never having to punt the first time these two teams met. The good news? The Giants’ defense buckled down in the red zone and did not allow a touchdown all game long.

The Commanders are 24th in the league in red zone (touchdown) offense and the Giants’ pass rush has been playing at an elite level as of late.

Greg Fiume/Getty Images

Giants pass rush

The Giants pass rush has been playing at a historic level and leads the league with 35 sacks and a sack rate of 13.31% ahead of Week 9. The individual leading the league in sacks? Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence.

Jayden Daniels was sacked five times back in Week 2, the highest sack total in his young rookie season. Daniels does a really good job at protecting the football but the Giants’ pass rush gives them a chance to limit the Commanders’ offense on Sunday.
