Texas A&M vs. Texas Friday availability report ahead of Saturday’s matchup

Here is the latest availability report, including an update on Texas A&M starting left guard Chase Bisontis

Texas A&M (8-3, 5-2 SEC) enters the final week of the 2024 regular season with everything on the line when the Aggies host the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night for a bid to the SEC Championship game against Georgia.

While it looked highly unlikely that the Aggies would even have a shot at the  College Football Playoff, Alabama’s shocking loss to Oklahoma opened the door for the Maroon & White to win their way in, no matter how tough that may seem on paper.

Throughout the week, head coach Mike Elko and his team will try to enjoy Thanksgiving on Thursday, but that’s a hard ask given what’s coming while needing to prepare for the toughest overall battle this season.

Several injury reports have been released during the week. Friday’s latest availability report included an update on Texas A&M starting left guard Chase Bisontis, while Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers (ankle) remains probable to play.

Texas A&M injury updates:

  • Le’Veon Moss- RB (Out for the season)
  • Mark Nabou – OL (Out for the season)
  • Cyrus Allen – WR (Out for the season)
  • Tyreek Chappell – DB (Out)
  • Rueben Owens – RB (Questionable)
  • Jaydon Hill – CB (Questionable)
  • Will Lee III – CB (Questionable)
  • Jaylen Henderson – QB (Questionable)
  • Chase Bisontis – OL (Probable)

Texas injury updates:

  • Derek Williams Jr. – DB (Out)
  • CJ Baxter – RB (Out)
  • Christian Clark – RB (Out)
  • Velton Gardner – RB (Out)
  • Quinn Ewers – QB (Probable)

Chase Bisontis Update:

Texas A&M’s star left guard is now listed as probable as of Friday, giving him a 75% chance to start, which automatically boosts the Aggies blocking up front. A healthy Bisontis is a huge boost when you need to control the ball and elongate drives.

Quinn Ewers Update:

Quinn Ewers is almost guaranteed to start, as the junior has been listed as probable throughout the week. Still, his ankle could be an issue early if the Aggies’ defense line makes an early impact, which could lead to the insertion of backup QB Arch Manning.

No. 19 Texas A&M will host No. 3 Texas on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ABC.

SEC rushing yards leaders ahead of Week 7

Here are the current SEC rushing leaders ahead of Week7, led by Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss

Texas A&M’s 2024 season will pause this week as the Aggies embark on their first bye week after demolishing Missouri 41-10 in Week 6. The team is now 5-1, a conference-leading 3-0, and in SEC play.

The return of starting quarterback Conner Weigman certainly set things in motion offensively for the Aggies against what was considered one of the best defenses in the country when Missouri took the field. His efficiency in the pocket opened up the running game and junior back Le’Veon Moss.

Throughout the season, Texas A&M OC Collin Klein has been masterful in the red zone, utilizing motion and physicality to result in 15 red zone touchdowns through six games. On Saturday, Moss reached the end zone three times, including a 75-yard touchdown run to open the second half and extend the lead to 31-0.

Finishing the game with 138 yards off 12 carries, Moss currently leads the SEC in rushing yards ahead of Week 7. Here are the top 10 rushing leaders in SEC play through six weeks.

  1. Le’Veon Moss (RB) — Texas A&M: 609 rushing yards
  2. Dylan Sampson (RB) — Tennessee: 587 rushing yards
  3. Henry Parrish (RB) — Ole Miss: 570 rushing yards
  4. Ja’Quinden Jackson (RB) — Arkansas: 566 rushing yards
  5. Jarquez Hunter (RB) — Auburn: 528 rushing yards
  6. Nate Noel (RB) — Missouri: 471 rushing yards
  7. Diego Pavia (QB) — Vanderbilt: 335 rushing yards
  8. Taylen Green (QB) — Arkansas: 326 rushing yards
  9. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye (RB) — Kentucky: 321 rushing yards
  10. Jam Miller (RB) — Alabama: 318 rushing yards

Final injury report ahead of Texas A&M vs. No. 14 LSU

Here is the final injury ahead of Texas A&M’s regular-season finale vs. No. 14 LSU in Baton Rouge (LA) on Saturday afternoon.

Texas A&M (7-4, 4-3 SEC) will end its 2023 football regular season on the road against the 14th-ranked LSU Tigers (8-3, 5-2 SEC). The game comes less than two weeks after the firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher, who was two games away from finishing his sixth season at the helm.

In interim head coach Elijah Robinson’s first game in his new role, the Aggies defeated Abilene Christian, 38-10, behind a 21-3 second-half scoring run in the final game in Kyle Field this season. An all-walk-on kickoff team fielded late in the fourth quarter was truly one of the best moments you will witness all season.

While this game has no bearing on the Aggies’ bowl eligibility after winning their 7th game last weekend, defeating the best offense in college football behind the arm and legs of senior quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite Jayden Daniels is a significant achievement amid all the chaos surrounding who will succeed Fisher at the helm in the coming days.

On Monday, Robinson stated that quarterback Max Johnson, who has missed A&M’s last two games with a rib injury, is doubtful to start against the Tigers, placing sophomore signal-caller Jaylen Henderson in the driver’s seat for his third consecutive start. Starting cornerback Josh DeBerry is also questionable about returning after joining Johnson on the injury list after the loss to Ole Miss.

Sophomore wide receiver Evan Stewart’s status with the team after rumors indicated that he will not travel to Baton Rouge has no factual basis as of now. Nothing is set in stone until the Aggies take the field for pre-game warmups on Saturday.

NOTE: It has been reported that Evan Stewart did not travel to Baton Rouge ahead of the game.

Texas A&M will take on 14th-ranked LSU on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. CT., and ESPN will carry the game.
