Cardinals-Bills Week 10 preview and predictions video

The AZCentral Sports staff breaks down the Week 10 matchup and make their picks.

The Arizona Cardinals take on the Buffalo Bills at home this Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Arizona time. It features two of the league’s better young quarterbacks in Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and the Bills’ Josh Allen.

The staff of AZCentral Sports, including columnist Kent Somers and reporters Bob McManaman and Katherine Fitzgerald previewed the game.

What are important factors for the game?

  • Allen is a tough weapon to defend because of his mobility, toughness and arm strength.
  • The Bills have talented receivers — Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley.
  • The Cardinals will have a fully healthy secondary.
  • This will be a physical test for the Cardinals, as the Bills are probably the best team they have faced all season.

Predictions?

Bob McManaman: Bills 28, Cardinals 24

Kent Somers: Bills 28, Cardinals 21

Katherine Fitzgerald: Cardinals 27, Bills 24

Cardinals activate G J.R. Sweezy from IR, make other roster moves

Leki Fotu lands on injured reserve and Trevon Coley is signed to the roster.

The Arizona Cardinals made a few roster moves on Saturday, a day ahead of their Week 10 home game against the Buffalo Bills. They get a starter back from injured reserve, place a player on IR and bring three players up from the practice squad.

Bills CB Josh Norman, 3 teammates placed on COVID-19 reserve, will miss game vs. Cardinals

He and three Bills teammates are not traveling with the team and will miss the game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Arizona Cardinals’ next opponent, the Buffalo Bills, are the latest team to have to deal with a coronavirus curveball. The Bills announced four players were placed on the COVID-19 reserve on Saturday after starting cornerback Josh Norman tested positive for the coronavirus. He tested positive and three teammates were placed on the list as having been in close contact.

The three teammates are fellow cornerback Levi Wallace, safety Dean Marlowe and tight end Tyler Kroft.

They did not travel with the team to Arizona.

Defensive assistant coach Leonard Johnson must stay home as well.

Norman is the only starter of the group and he was slated to be primarily assigned to cover Cardinals receiver Christian Kirk, who had five receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown last week and has scored five touchdowns in the last three games.

Behind Enemy Line: Cardinals-Bills Q&A preview

Check out what a Bills writer had to say about the Cardinals’ next opponent and the game this weekend.

The Arizona Cardinals are set to take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, hoping to improve to 6-3 on the season and set themselves up for a chance to take over first place in the NFC West when they face the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

To preview this game, Bills Wire managing editor Nick Wojton answered some questions to give Cardinals fans and followers some insight to the game from the other side of the lines.

Below are his answers to my questions.

Cody Ford, Micah Hyde questionable for Bills in Week 10

Jordan Phillips out, Kenyan Drake a gametime decision for Cardinals Week 10

Drake will work out on Sunday and the decision will be made whether he will be able to play against the Bills.

The Arizona Cardinals have a few holes to fill on Sunday as they take on the Buffalo Bills this weekend. Three players were ruled out of the game with injuries, including starting defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

Phillips missed practice all week with a hamstring injury and will not get to face his former team.

Also ruled out is starting right guard Justin Murray (hand) and rookie defensive lineman Leki Fotu (ankle). However, reinforcements could be coming for those positions. Guard J.R. Sweezy and rookie defensive lineman Rashard Lawrence, who have been on injured reserve, were designated for return this week. Both could be reinstated and Sweezy could step back into his starting role this weekend.

Running back Kenyan Drake, who is recovering from an ankle injury that kept him out of Week 9, was limited all week and is considered a Sunday decision. Kliff Kingsbury wants to see whether Drake can do what he normally does before deciding whether to play him.

Safety Budda Baker practiced on a limited basis for the first time all week on Friday and is questionable with a groin injury. He is trending towards playing.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, who has a thigh injury, was limited all week and is also questionable, although he is expected to play. Tight end Maxx Williams (ankle) and safety Deionte Thompson (knee) are also both questionable after getting limited work in practice on Thursday and Friday. They both missed on Wednesday.

Quarterback Chris Streveler and lineman Lamont Gaillard were both back at practice as full participants on Friday. They both were ill on Thursday and did not practice. They will suit up ono Sunday.

Ruled out:

  • OL Justin Murray (hand)
  • DL Leki Fotu (ankle)
  • DL Jordan Phillips (hamstring)

Questionable:

  • S Budda Baker (groin)
  • RB Kenyan Drake (ankle)
  • CB Dre Kirkpatrick (thigh)
  • TE Maxx Williams (ankle)
  • S Deionte Thompson (knee)

5 player connections between Cardinals, Bills

The Cardinals have a pair of former Bills, while Buffalo has a trio of former Cardinals.

The Arizona Cardinals’ next opponent this weekend are the Buffalo Bills, a team they have only faced 11 times previously in their history. They face each other only once every four years, being in different conferences, unless they happen to meet in the Super Bowl, which hasn’t happened.

But despite the infrequent matchups, there are some connections between the two teams. Two Cardinals players used to play for the Bills and a trio of players on Buffalo’s roster used to play for the Cardinals.

Who are they?

Cardinals seek first win over Bills since 2008

The Bills lead the all-time series 7-4.

The Arizona Cardinals have a tough Week 10 matchup this weekend. They host the 7-2 and AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is coming off a big 44-34 win over the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks and are on a three-game winning streak.

The Cardinals seek to start a new winning streak after losing in Week 9 to the Miami Dolphins.

A win over the Bills would be the first in a long time. They have not defeated the Bills since 2008.

Being that the two teams are not in the same conference, they have not faced each other much. This will be only the 12th time they have faced one another. Buffalo leads the all-time series 7-4.

The Cardinals are 3-3 against the Bills at home and 1-1 in State Farm Stadium.

Their last meeting was a 33-18 Bills win in 2016 when Carson Palmer was intercepted four times and a bad snap on a field goal was returned for a touchdown.

The previous matchup was in 2012 at home when the Bills beat the Cardinals 19-16 and quarterback Kevin Kolb was knocked out of the game, never to play again for the team. Jay Feely made a 61-yard field goal to tie the game but had a potential game-winning kick tipped before Buffalo made a game-winning kick in overtime.
