Torrey Craig predicted to start over Patrick Williams for Bulls

Will Torrey Craig start at the power forward position for the Chicago Bulls over Patrick Williams?

After two years of little playoff success, the Chicago Bulls made changes to the roster this summer. They didn’t make any major moves, but they brought in Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig in free agency, both of whom are projected to play big-time minutes for the Bulls this season.

Carter is expected to step into the starting point guard spot, while Craig could take on any number of roles. However, according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Craig could end up starting for the Bulls over Patrick Williams. He believes the veteran will earn the spot and play more minutes than Williams.

Buckley pointed toward Craig’s defense and 3-point shooting as reasons he will end up starting over Williams.

“First, the 32-year-old is among the more reliable defenders in this league,” Buckley wrote. “He is versatile and tireless at that end, traits that could uber-valuable in the starting five alongside Chicago’s offense-first stars.

“Second, he ramped up his outside shooting this past season and wound up with career highs in makes (1.3 per game) and accuracy (39.5). If he’s comfortable spotting up in the corners, he’ll be easy to keep on the floor with the Bulls’ more ball-dominant options.

“As for Williams, he might benefit from playing a prominent role with the second team instead of a supporting one with the starters. He is still in the developmental stage of his career — he hasn’t even turned 22 yet — so he needs all the touches he can get.

“However, that lack of experience could have him taking a backseat in big moments to Craig, who has a chance to edge out Williams in average minutes.”

Should the Chicago Bulls be interested in a James Harden trade?

With James Harden’s time with the Philadelphia 76ers seemingly coming to an end, should the Chicago Bulls be interested in a trade?

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

The Chicago Bulls organization has been the poster child for mediocrity for the past two seasons. Despite putting together a group of three multi-time All-Stars in Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls have won a single playoff game in the last two years.

Something needs to change.

They made a couple of additions to the roster this summer, Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig, but will that be enough? Should the Bulls go after a bigger fish in hopes of raising the ceiling of their team right now? Is that fish James Harden?

The Philadelphia 76ers and Harden seem to be on path for a divorce, so the guys of CHGO Bulls Podcast discussed whether or not a trade for the disgruntled star would make sense for the Bulls.

Should Chicago be in on the Harden sweepstakes? Or should they stay away?

Bulls set to welcome back Terry Taylor for ’23-24 season

The Bulls have come to terms with Terry Taylor to keep the forward in Chicago. Here’s what you need to know about the deal.

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

The Chicago Bulls signed forward Terry Taylor, the team announced Monday evening. The terms of the contract were not disclosed, and the Bulls roster has 18 players, including two-way deals. Taylor joined the team last season in February, appearing in five games with Chicago.

Taylor stands 6 feet, 5 inches tall and began his career with the Indiana Pacers. After joining Chicago on a two-way contract last year, Taylor made several appearances with the club’s G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. He averaged 20 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in seven starts during that time. It’s a high upside move for a team looking to improve its internal player development.

The Bulls extended Taylor a qualifying offer earlier this offseason, and the team appears high on the 23-year-old. At the time of this writing, the nature of the contract is unclear. However, whether this is a training camp deal, a two-way contract, or a full roster spot, expect Taylor to compete for a spot in head coach Billy Donovan’s rotation. Taylor will wear No. 32 once again for the Bulls.

How can the Chicago Bulls fix their player development struggles?

How should the Chicago Bulls improve their player development moving forward?

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

For the past two years, the Chicago Bulls have been committed to winning behind a star-studded core of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.

All three players are multi-time All-Stars, but together, they’ve won just one playoff game in two seasons. Obviously, an injury to Lonzo Ball got in the way, but that can’t be used as an excuse anymore.

While Chicago’s Big 3 may not be good enough to win a championship, it should be good enough to make the playoffs. That’s where the questions need to start. What’s wrong with the group around them? Why can’t the Bulls find any young success stories? The latter of those two questions may be the most important, as the Bulls didn’t draft any true young stars despite going through a four-year playoff drought.

The “Chicago Bulls Central” YouTube channel recently discussed this problem, pondering how the Bulls can fix their player development issues.

What should the Bulls do moving forward to help improve their developmental struggles?

Nets guard Cam Thomas credits Bulls defense for snapping hot streak

Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas credited the Chicago Bulls defense for snapping his scoring streak.

For the past two seasons, the Chicago Bulls have struggled to find postseason success. They snapped a four-year playoff drought in 2022 after a hot start to the regular season, but they were eliminated in five games in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. And this past year, they were bounced in the play-in tournament by the Miami Heat.

Despite putting together a star-heavy team with Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, Chicago has only won one playoff game. And this past year, the Bulls’ defense was good enough to warrant playoff success; they were fifth in the NBA in defensive rating at 111.5. They just weren’t able to translate that into wins in the playoffs.

Chicago’s defense was so good that Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas recently dished some high praise.

Dwyane Wade shares admiration for Michael Jordan during Hall of Fame speech

“He captured my imagination and fueled my aspirations all at the same time.” Wade said of Jordan.

Former Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade is a member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023.

Wade may have spent just a lone season with the Bulls, but he grew up in the Chicago area. During the weekend’s festivities, Wade spoke about how his hometown had a big impact on him. As part of his official enshrinement speech, Wade brought it full circle by paying homage to Michael Jordan.

Wade explained how influential his father was in shaping his love of basketball. As he grew older, however, Jordan slowly became a central part of Wade’s understanding and love of the game.

“Before and after my games,” Wade explained. “I studied the player who had replaced my Pops as my favorite: Michael Jordan.”

The Chicago Bulls are one of the most historic franchises in the history of the NBA. From Michael Jordan to Scottie Pippen to Derrick Rose, they have been home to some legendary players. Even beyond the best of the best, some top-notch individuals have donned the red and black in Chicago.

One of those players, Joakim Noah, is going to be eligible for entrance into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame next year. And as the Hall of Fame weekend proceedings continue, next summer’s class is becoming a topic of conversation. Could Noah get inducted in his first year of eligibility?

The guys of CHGO Sports discussed this very topic on their YouTube channel.
