Coby White discusses Nets’ shot-making in tough Bulls loss

After the Chicago Bulls’ Friday night loss, Coby White spoke about the Brooklyn Nets’ shot-making.

The Chicago Bulls traveled to New York on Friday night to take on the Brooklyn Nets, but unfortunately, they couldn’t keep up the momentum they built in their win over the Indiana Pacers. Chicago dropped their game to Brooklyn by a score of 125-108, as they failed to generate the same level of offensive output.

While the Bulls only attempted 30 threes, making nine of them, the Nets took a far different approach. Brooklyn took 44 threes against the Bulls, and they made 25 of them. That marks a 48-point difference between the two teams on three-pointers alone. The Nets were on fire, and at times, it felt as though there was nothing the Bulls could do about it.

“Second half, they made shots, they made tough ones, they made contested ones, they made ones off the dribble,” White said. “It’s hard to beat a team if they’re making 25 3s. They made shots in the second half and some was due to us having our lapses, but I think a lot of it was just that they got hot.”

White ended the game with 18 points, two rebounds, and nine assists while shooting 6-of-16 from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the three-point arc.

Billy Donovan discusses Bulls inconsistencies in loss to Nets

Head coach Billy Donovan spoke about the need for offensive consistency after the Chicago Bulls’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Chicago Bulls were chugging along throughout the course of the season after their 5-14 start, but as of late, they’ve been struggling mightily. They lost their fourth contest in five games on Friday night, losing to the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 125-108. Chicago couldn’t keep up with the offensive production of Brooklyn.

The Nets simply outperformed the Bulls on the offensive side of the ball, outshooting them from three-point range 25-9. Coby White’s issues with efficiency continued against the Nets as the Bulls’ shot profile couldn’t stand up to how Brooklyn was rolling on the offensive end of the floor.

After the game, head coach Billy Donovan spoke about the importance of Chicago’s offensive consistency. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“We really need everybody offensively to have — not to say huge games, but consistent games,” Donovan said. “Those are some of the things we’re trying to fight for. I wish we could control the ball going into the basket. That’s the one thing you can’t control. I do like the shots that we’re generating, the things that we’re trying to do on offense and the way they’re trying to play. But there’s just times when we do have droughts.”

It was the second time in three games that the Bulls failed to crack the 110-point mark.

DeMar DeRozan discusses Bulls play after brutal loss to Nets

After the Chicago Bulls’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets, DeMar DeRozan spoke about the importance of playing hard for a full 48 minutes.

The Chicago Bulls’ win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night snapped a three-game skid. Unfortunately, they fell back into the put of defeat on Friday, as they lost to the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 125-108. Their lead over the Atlanta Hawks for the ninth seed and the top spot in the bottom Play-In Tournament game.

The Bulls got absolutely dominated from behind the three-point line. The Nets nailed 25 of their 44 three-point attempts, while the Bulls shot just 9-of-30 from beyond the arc. That means the Nets had a 48-point advantage on threes alone – a difficult hurdle for the Bulls to overcome.

After the game, DeMar DeRozan spoke about the importance of the Bulls playing hard for full games. (H/t ESPN)

“We just talk about [playing] hard for 48 minutes,” DeRozan said. “More so than anything, competing a full game and not put ourselves in a hole to make things difficult for us. From my standpoint, I always stress that we got to be playing the right way [for] 48 minutes and playing together.”

If the Bulls want to maintain their spot in the Play-In, they’ll need to stay focused.

DeMar DeRozan says Bulls need to take things game by game

DeMar DeRozan said that the Chicago Bulls need to only focus on the game in front of them.

After they started the season at 5-14, the Chicago Bulls’ season looked doomed. They seemed as though they were on a one-way train to a top pick in the draft and a brutal year. However, they turned things around in a big way, pushing their way back up in the standings and into the Play-In Tournament.

On the back of stellar play from Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu, the Bulls have been an underrated squad during the second half of the season. They’re almost certainly going to be taking on the Atlanta Hawks in the 9-10 Play-In game, and anything past that would be gravy for the Bulls, should the win.

DeMar DeRozan recently spoke about the importance of focusing on the game in front of them and nothing else. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“We definitely have time,” DeRozan said. “All it takes is doing it one game, competing all out, understanding and living with the results. As long as we do that, that’s all that matters.”

If the Bulls can win two playoff games, they’ll get back in the playoffs for just the second time since Jimmy Butler left Chicago.

Bulls star DeMar DeRozan speaks out against sports gambling craze

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan recently spoke out against sports betting.

As sports gambling has gotten bigger and bigger in the United States, Chicago Bulls players and everyone around the league are inevitably going to be affected. Whether it be fans yelling out from the crowd about their parlays or people watching sports purely for the sake of their bets, it’s an inevitability. And now, the NBA and other leagues are partnering with sports betting sites.

Plenty of players around the NBA have spoken up about sports betting. Some players understand that it’s simply a part of the game, and others are vehemently against the idea of gambling on sports. Bulls star DeMar DeRozan falls more into the latter category.

DeRozan said that it’s taking away from the purity of the game. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“If you a fan, you a fan,” DeRozan said. “I just feel like it takes away the purity of the game and the love of the game. It should be about being a fan. I don’t think you can necessarily be a complete fan if you’re worrying about somebody getting three assists or whatever it may be.”

If people are just there to watch and see if their bets cash, are they really fans of the team they’re there to support?

Billy Donovan says Bulls are aware of importance of 9th seed

Head coach Billy Donovan said that the Chicago Bulls understand the importance of keeping hold of the ninth seed in the East.

The Chicago Bulls have battled all the way back from their 5-14 start to the season and are now close to a lock to being a Play-In Tournament team. While that’s certainly not ideal, all the Bulls can do now is live with the position they’ve put themselves in and work to give themselves the best chance possible moving forward.

It’s almost certain at this point that the Bulls will be in the 9-10 Play-In game in a matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. However, the question is whether or not they are able to hang onto the ninth seed, which would give them home-court advantage over the Hawks in that game.

Ahead of the Bulls’ game against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, head coach Billy Donovan said that his team is very aware of the importance of keeping hold of the ninth seed. (H/t Sharif Phillips-Keaton of Nets Wire)

“I think our guys are very much aware of that,” Donovan said. “We’ve talked about how important [it is]. I think the guys even mentioned it at even 12 games remaining.”

The Bulls need to stay focused on the games in front of them.

Famous YouTuber KOT4Q recently named his starting five of random Chicago Bulls players.

Over the years, the Chicago Bulls have been home to a ton of great players. From Michael Jordan in the 1990s to Derrick Rose in the 2010s, the city of Chicago has had a ton of players to root for. But as is the case with every hardcore fanbase, Chicago has also been able to root for a bunch of players that outside fans may not be able to appreciate.

Every fanbase has certain players that they love who fans of other fans may not appreciate as much. These are the guys that only true Bulls fans love, as they understand what they did for the team.

Coby White falling in Most Improved Player race in recent rankings

In a recent Most Improved Player award rankings, Chicago Bulls guard Coby White dropped into second place.

As the Chicago Bulls have played their way to a middle-of-the-pack record for another season, fans have been begging the front office to rebuild. Yet for the third straight year, the Bulls decided to stand pat and do nothing at the trade deadline, leaving fans to root for the same guys for another straight year. Luckily, Coby White has given them something extra to be excited about.

White has emerged as a legitimate star this season for the Bulls, something fans have been yearning for since he was drafted. With Zach LaVine injured, he’s had a chance to take on a larger role, and he’s been in the Most Improved Player conversation.

However, in Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report’s recent rankings, White fell to second in the MIP race, giving way to Oklahoma City Thunder wing Jalen Williams.

“White’s strides are real. He looks like a legitimate starter who can impact the game on both ends, which wasn’t the case a year ago,” Hughes wrote. “But much like the leap from 50 wins to 60 wins is tougher in a team context than the climb from 40 to 50, we need to acknowledge that Williams’ jump is at a higher elevation than White’s.”

White has a real shot to win the award, but there are some other guys who could overtake him if he continues to slump.

Billy Donovan credits Coby White’s energy in Bulls win over Pacers

After the Chicago Bulls’ win over the Indiana Pacers, Billy Donovan credited Coby White’s constant energy.

The Chicago Bulls absolutely obliterated the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, winning by a score of 125-99. It was a blowout win for the vast majority of the game, and Chicago’s defense was the big story. They became the first team to hold the Pacers to under 100 points this season.

Offensively, DeMar DeRozan led the way with 27 points, and Nikola Vucevic posted a double-double. Coby White, on the other hand, struggled to find his footing. His recent struggles continued as he had another relatively inefficient night against the Pacers. But that didn’t stop him from making an impact on the game.

After the contest, head coach Billy Donovan praised White’s energy and attentiveness throughout the game in spite of his struggles. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“He didn’t have a great shooting night at all, but he was into the game,” Donovan said. “He was into it on the bench, he was into it in huddles. He did a phenomenal job. It brought a lot of life to our team.”

White finished the night with 18 points on 8-of-21 shooting from the field and 2-of-5 shooting from behind the three-point line.

Alex Caruso on highlight-reel behind-the-back move on Ben Sheppard

Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso spoke about his highlight-reel move against Indiana Pacers rookie Ben Sheppard.

The Chicago Bulls absolutely dominated the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, earning a 125-99 victory. They put on a show on the defensive end, becoming the first team this season to hold the Pacers to under 100 points. Alex Caruso was a big part of that, but he also had a fun highlight on the offensive end of the court.

With just over two minutes left in the first quarter of the game, Caruso had Pacers rookie Ben Sheppard on him. He drove right but pulled back, causing Sheppard to fall down by using a nasty behind-the-back move. It drew oohs and ahhs from the crowd, and Caruso sunk the jumper.

After the game, Caruso spoke about the moment. (H/t Cody Westerlund of 670 The Score)

“You always got make that shot … As soon as I shot it, I thought it was going in and I was just in my head like, ‘Go in, go in, go in’,” Caruso said.

Caruso ended the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals while shooting 5-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc.
