What will it take for the Chicago Bulls front office to make changes?

How much does the Chicago Bulls front office have to see before they decide to blow up this core?

For the past three years, the Chicago Bulls have stood at every trade deadline. Their roster has remained almost entirely the same ever since they made a bunch of huge shake-ups in 2021. The Bulls committed to a core of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, but since forming that group, the team has won just a single playoff game.

So far this season, despite the emergence of Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu as stars in the making, it’s been more of the same in Chicago. LaVine is still there, DeRozan is still there, and Vucevic is still there. And the team is still in the middle of the pack in the East.

The Chicago Bulls Central YouTube channel recently discussed how much more it will take for the front office to realize it’s time to break up this core.

Rumors have indicated that the Bulls plan to trade LaVine this summer, so that’s a start, but is it enough?

Former Chicago Bulls guard Ben Gordon could see charges dropped for Stamford altercation

The incident, one of a series of altercations marring the post-playing career for the former Chicago wing, was part of the reasoning behind Gordon getting himself into counseling.

Former Chicago Bulls guard Ben Gordon could see his charges dropped for an incident in Stamford in 2023 that saw the onetime UConn star pull a knife on a juice shop employee after a disagreement, per recent reporting from the Stanford Advocate’s Pat Tomlinson.

The incident, one of a series of altercations marring the post-playing career for the former Chicago wing, was part of the reasoning behind Gordon getting himself into counseling. Gordon’s collegiate coach, Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun, revealed the decision to engage counseling after Gordon’s life took a sharp turn towards trouble in recent years.

“From the moment I met Ben, I saw a passion and drive in him like no other,” wrote Calhoun. “On both a personal and professional level, I consider Ben to be an outstanding individual.”

We also learned the former Husky is back at UConn working to finish his degree.

“People think that if you’re successful, if you earn some money, you don’t have problems,” said Gordon’s attorney, Darnell, Crosland. “But they do have problems, and he’s taking the steps to correct those problems.”

Coby White discusses underlying Bulls defensive problem

Coby White recently spoke about an underlying problem of the Chicago Bulls’ defense.

For the past few years, the Chicago Bulls’ offense has been pretty one-dimensional. They’ve been a mid-range-heavy team thanks, in part, to the play of DeMar DeRozan. However, last season, they managed to earn a place as the fifth-best defense in the league. This year, they rank 20th, and since the All-Star break, the Bulls are the fifth-worst defense in the league.

As of now, the Bulls are almost certainly going to play the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the Play-In Tournament. Since that’s the case, they’ll need to lock in on defense. That said, Coby White doesn’t see their entire defense as the issue but rather a niche part of their defense.

He recently noted that while the Bulls have been playing good first-shot defense, it’s been their inability to close out possessions that’s giving them problems. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“Our first-shot defense has been good,” White said. “It’s just the offensive rebounds, which lead to the kick-out 3s and wide-open 3s and defensive breakdowns. We’ve just got to limit them to one shot.”

Chicago needs to do a better job at ending possessions with a rebound.

DeMar DeRozan sounds off in frustration after Bulls loss to Wizards

After the Chicago Bulls’ loss to the Washington Wizards, DeMar DeRozan expressed his frustration.

Looking to bounce back from their brutal loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, the Chicago Bulls welcomed the Washington Wizards to town on Monday night. The Wizards, one of the worst teams in the NBA, had won two straight games, and unfortunately for the Bulls, Washington took them down, winning three games in a row for the first time this season.

Washington took home a 107-105 win over Chicago, and while the Bulls made it a competitive game down the stretch, they were down by as many as 16 points during the game. As the Bulls fight for their spot in the 9-10 Play-In game, they need every win they can get.

After the loss, DeMar DeRozan expressed his frustration. (H/t ESPN)

“We shouldn’t drop games like this right now,” DeRozan said. “We’re resilient, but we can’t live on the edge every single game. We can lose to any single team any night. That’s the NBA. We’ve got to be aware of that. We’ve got to leave it out there these last 10 games. Can’t have no more excuses.”

DeRozan finished the game with 27 points, two rebounds, six assists, and five steals while shooting 9-of-22 from the field and 1-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc.

Javonte Green’s return spawns video of best Bulls dunks

Check out some of Javonte Green’s best plays in a Chicago Bulls uniform.

The Chicago Bulls have had a pretty underwhelming season this year. They’ve spent the past three seasons stuck in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. At this point in the season, there isn’t much left for Bulls fans to root for outside of the development of their young players.

However, the Bulls just gave fans another reason to pay attention to the team down the stretch of the season. Chicago brought back Javonte Green on a 10-day contract, and while he may not get much playing time, he’s a walking highlight-reel dunk just waiting to happen at any point.

With his return to the Bulls, the team’s official YouTube account posted a video of some of his best plays from his previous stint in Chicago.

Having Green back on the team could help improve the Bulls’ vibes, and fans should be watching every night, as he could end up throwing down some monster slams.

Is Billy Donovan the right coach for the Chicago Bulls?

Should the Chicago Bulls keep Billy Donovan as their head coach?

The Chicago Bulls have been struggling to stay competitive for the past few seasons. They went all-in in 2021 with the core of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, but they’ve only won a single playoff game with those three. And on top of all of that, they haven’t made a trade at the deadline in three years.

Chicago’s constant state of mediocrity has fans angry and eager for change. They want to see the Bulls front office shake up the roster, and this summer could be the time they finally decide to do just that. But what if the roster isn’t the only thing that needs to change in Chicago?

The Chicago Bulls Central Youtube channel recently discussed whether or not Billy Donovan is the right head coach for the Bulls.

Donovan has had success in every place he’s been prior to joining the Bulls, so there’s a chance he hasn’t been set up for success, but at the same time, Chicago may just need a fresh start.

Nothing else can be said about the Chicago Bulls this season

The Chicago Bulls are who they are. There is nothing more to find out.

It’s officially the point in the season where every team is who they are. No matter if a team is heading for a top pick in the lottery or a top seed in the NBA playoffs, the team is playing how they will in the playoffs. The time for big-time turnarounds is over, and the only varying factor left to watch out for is injuries. The Chicago Bulls are no exception to this rule.

Despite overcoming a 5-14 start to the year, the Bulls are still a middle-of-the-pack squad. The improvements of Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu have been fun to watch, but the Bulls are still the Bulls.

The Bulls Central YouTube channel recently spoke about how there is nothing left to learn about this Bulls team.

With their tough loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, it was the final straw. The Bulls are who they are, and the result is mediocre.

Coby White has high praise for Celtics after tough Bulls loss

After the Chicago Bulls’ loss to the Boston Celtics, Coby White had some high praise for the East’s top seed.

The Chicago Bulls overcame a 5-14 start to the season and are now in place to have a spot in the Play-In Tournament. Unless there is a massive shift, they will be playing the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the Play-In, but the rest of the season should be used to generate a rhythm and maintain their spot as the nine seed in the East.

They took on the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, who are in a much different place than the Bulls. Boston has maintained their place atop the Eastern Conference for almost the entire season, and if the Milwaukee Bucks lose on Sunday night, they will have clinched the one seed in March.

After the Bulls’ loss on Saturday night, Coby White praised the Celtics’ ability to win games regardless of who is available to play in a video posted to Twitter by Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune. (H/t Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog)

“It don’t really matter who plays for them,” White said. “They play really well. They stick to their identity. They’ve been having dudes in and out of the line-up for three weeks and they win games.”

White finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists while shooting 3-of-11 from the field and 1-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc.

Coby White speaks about interrupted rhythm after Bulls loss to Celtics

After the Chicago Bulls’ loss to the Boston Celtics, Coby White spoke about his rhythm.

The Chicago Bulls welcomed the Boston Celtics to town on Saturday night after a one-night trip to Texas for a date with the Houston Rockets. They lost that game in blowout fashion, as the red-hot Rockets stormed ahead after the firs quarter and didn’t look back. Unfortunately for Chicago, Boston took them down, too.

Coby White returned to action against the Rockets after a three-game absence. He missed some time with a hip injury after getting bodied by Pascal Siakam in Chicago’s win over the Indiana Pacers. White shot 5-of-13 against the Rockets, and against Boston, he shot 3-of-11 against the Celtics.

After the loss to Boston, White spoke about how missing time disrupts a player’s rhythm. (H/t Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times)

“At this point of the season when you miss a week, it feels like a lot longer than that,” White said. “So for me, I don’t want to force it. Just let the game come to me. I’m just trying to go out there and contribute any way I can right now.”

White has been crucial to the Bulls’ success this year, so they need him to get back to himself as soon as possible.

Javonte Green talks about return to Bulls: ‘A surreal feeling’

Javonte Green is hyped to be back with the Chicago Bulls.

Prior to their loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, the Chicago Bulls brought back a familiar face into the fold. They signed veteran Javonte Green to a 10-day contract, meaning he’ll spend at least a few games with the Bulls before the year comes to a close.

Green spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Bulls after getting traded from Boston to Chicago at the 2021 deadline. Though undersized, Green turned himself into a reliable rotation piece for Billy Donovan at the forward position. And now, after a season-ending knee injury ended his season last year, Green is back with the Bulls and ready to give it his all.

To him, his last stint in Chicago feels like a lifetime ago. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“To be back here is a surreal feeling, even though it hasn’t felt like a long time ago,” Green said.

He’s just going to be himself.

“Obviously the Bulls know what I bring to the table,” Green said. “I’ll just go out there and be myself.”

Green didn’t play against the Celtics, but he’s ready for whenever the Bulls may need him.
