Titans fans guide to the Colts-Jonathan Taylor mess

If you like Colts drama, this article is for you.

If you enjoy watching the Indianapolis Colts go through drama — of course you do, you’re a Tennessee Titans fan — then you’ll enjoy seeing what is happening with the team and running back Jonathan Taylor.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Taylor has been seeking a lucrative, long-term deal from the Colts ahead of the fourth and final season of his rookie deal, but Indy hasn’t seemed willing to oblige — like, at all.

Colts owner Jim Irsay decided to open his big mouth and comment on the much-debated state of the running back market, which produced a tweet Taylor surely didn’t like (Malki Kawa is Taylor’s agent, by the way).

Since then, it has been reported that Taylor, who is currently on the PUP list as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery, has requested a trade from the team. Irsay has since come out and said he won’t trade his best player.

As if all that wasn’t enough, reports surfaced on Sunday stating the Colts were thinking about moving Taylor from the PUP list to the non-football injury list due to a back injury he suffered while working out on his own.

However, Taylor has denied he ever had a back injury, pushing this situation into even higher levels of insanity.

Two things:

  1. There is no way this situation gets fixed, which leads me to believe Taylor will be playing elsewhere in 2023. That would make life at least a little easier for the Titans, but it didn’t matter much anyway because the Titans usually shut him down.
  2. Thank goodness the Titans have Amy Adams Strunk and not some buffoon for an owner.

For more information on this juicy situation, check out this article from our friends over at Colts Wire, which breaks everything down up until the spat over his back.

AFC South news roundup: Taylor requests trade, training camp headlines

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor requesting a trade is just one of the headlines we’re looking at in our latest AFC South news roundup.

Welcome to our AFC South news roundup: training camp edition, where we take a look at all the goings on with the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals, the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.

We must start in Indianapolis, where Colts owner Jim Irsay made an already shaky situation with star running back Jonathan Taylor even worse.

Just days after Irsay seemingly put his foot in his mouth when commenting on the running back market, Taylor has now requested a trade from the team.

The tweet below is Taylor’s agent’s response to Irsay.

Thank your lucky stars the Titans don’t have a buffoon for an owner like the Colts do. In fact, our beloved Amy Adams Strunk could not be more of a polar opposite from Irsay.

On top of the Taylor news, we’re also covering training camp headlines for each of the Titans’ AFC South foes. Check out everything in our roundup below and, of course, enjoy your Sunday and the rest of the week!

Texans signing Titans free-agent target George Fant

Titans free-agent target George Fant is signing with a division rival.

Not only did the Tennessee Titans not land veteran offensive tackle George Fant in free agency, he’s now going to a division rival.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Fant is signing with the Houston Texans after a recent workout with the team, which followed his workout with Tennessee.

Per Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, Fant is inking a one-year deal with the Texans that is worth up to $4 million.

Fant’s signing comes in the wake of the Titans reportedly signing free-agent offensive lineman Chris Hubbard, a move that made it clear Fant wasn’t going to land in Nashville.

And the reason behind that, according to AtoZ Sports’ Buck Reising, was that the Titans’ offer didn’t meet what Fant wanted.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Fant received an offer from the Titans below what he was seeking and chose to pursue other opportunities.

That’s a bit frustrating to know considering Fant didn’t end up landing any semblance of an outlandish contract from the Texans, and that’s especially true when you consider the Titans had enough cap space for said deal.

While Fant was no doubt the best option out there, Hubbard’s addition is welcomed nonetheless.

The former Cleveland Brown gives Tennessee another option for the starting right tackle competition, a role that figures to last just six games while Nicholas Petit-Frere serves his suspension.

And Hubbard is an experienced option at that, with his having nine years and 49 starts under his belt. The 32-year-old also offers versatility thanks to his experience playing guard.

In Jacksonville, the Jaguars are keeping it in the family with the team signing the son of head coach Doug Pederson. Also, former Jags head coach Tom Coughlin is a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

AFC South news roundup: Texans praise Stroud’s leadership, Jags named under-the-radar SB contender

Multiple Texans offered high praise for C.J. Stroud, and one ESPN analyst believes the Jags are an under-the-radar Super Bowl contender.

Welcome, friends, to our latest addition of the AFC South news roundup, where we check in on the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals — the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts — after yet another long, quiet week of the NFL offseason.

We begin in Jacksonville, where ESPN’s Louis Riddick is very high on the Jags, and so much so he believes they’re an under-the-radar Super Bowl contender going into 2023.

In Houston, praise continues to poor in for Texans No. 2 overall pick and signal-caller, C.J. Stroud, with two different teammates offering great compliments for the rookie quarterback.

We then move to Indy, where Colts No. 4 pick and quarterback, Anthony Richardson, discusses trying to adjust to the smaller margin of error he’s going to have in the NFL.

Also, King Henry takes his rightful place atop a pair of lists ranking the best running backs in the division and on the Colts’ 2023 schedule.

We cover those stories and many, many more. Let’s get to it.

AFC South news roundup: Colts, Jags lose starters to suspensions, C.J. Stroud projected to start

It was a rough week for the AFC South.

Come along, my friends, as we take our latest trip around the AFC South to see what’s going on with the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals, the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s supposed to be the quiet time of the NFL offseason when teams are on a break ahead of training camp later this month. However, that has been far from the case for three AFC South teams.

The Titans lost their right tackle, Nicholas Petit-Frere, for the first six games due to his violating the league’s gambling policy. And then, just the next day, Tennessee’s backup running back and 2022 fourth-round pick, Hassan Haskins, was arrested for aggravated assault by strangulation.

But the Titans aren’t the only team going through it, as the Colts and Jaguars also lost starters to suspensions, with Indy losing a starting cornerback for violating the gambling policy, while the Jags lost a starting O-lineman because of a violation of the performance-enhancing drugs policy.

In all, the Colts had two players suspended, but the other player was a practice squad guy, which is obviously far less impactful.

Things weren’t too much better in Houston, though. The Texans didn’t lose any players to suspension, but their former quarterback, Ryan Mallett, tragically lost his life in a drowning accident.

AFC South news roundup: C.J. Stroud isn’t starter yet, Colts dealing with injury concerns

Take a trip with us around the AFC South to check in on the Titans’ division rivals, the Colts, Jaguars and Texans.

Happy Sunday, Tennessee Titans fans, and to all those fans of other AFC South teams who have stumbled upon our latest divisional news roundup where we check in on the Titans’ biggest rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans.

We are officially in the dead part of the NFL offseason, as teams are on break ahead of training camp in late July, which means there is absolutely nothing coming from teams with no practices, etc.

Thus, we are scraping the bottom of the barrel for news, which makes my job a heck of a lot harder. Nevertheless, I press on for the good of the people.

In Houston, the Texans have yet to name their starting signal-caller. In Indy, the Colts have injury concerns with three of their best players, two of which we cover in this roundup (the other is linebacker Shaquille Leonard).

Meanwhile, Jaguars fans got a blast from the past with the announced renaming of TIAA Bank Field, which is set to undergo renovations.

Check out those stories and more below in our latest AFC South news roundup.

AFC South news roundup: Latest on C.J. Stroud, Colts pick tears ACL, Jags’ Lloyd wasn’t ready

Texans QB C.J. Stroud has gotten some positive reviews for his work this offseason.

Happy Sunday, my Tennessee Titans family! A new week brings us a new roundup, where we check in on the team’s division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.

We start in Indy, where some notable Colts are dealing with injuries that have sidelined them during the offseason program. Among those players is a 2023 draft pick who suffered a season-ending injury.

In Jacksonville, Jaguars 2022 first-round pick and edge rusher Devin Lloyd admitted he wasn’t quite ready for his first season in the NFL, both from a physical and mental standpoint.

In Houston, C.J. Stroud’s coaches and teammates have heaped praise on the rookie signal-caller, although the team has yet to officially announce him as its starter for 2023, something that is fully expected to happen.

Check out those stories and more as we take our latest trip around the AFC South to check in on the Texans, Colts and Jaguars.

AFC South news roundup: Colts CB subject of gambling investigation, Jags won’t pursue Hopkins

A Colts cornerback finds himself in hot water as he’s the subject of a gambling investigation.

Sunday marks a new week, and with it a new AFC South news roundup where we check in on the Tennessee Titans’ division rivals, the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.

But before we get to the news, a look at the week ahead for the Titans: they’ll hold the final four sessions of OTAs from June 12-15 before heading off to summer break prior to training camp in late July.

We start in Indianapolis, where one Colts player appears to be in boiling hot water thanks to allegations of gambling violations. We’ve seen the NFL come down hard on multiple players in the last few years for such violations.

In Jacksonville, the Jaguars aren’t set to be a threat for DeAndre Hopkins, at least according to their head coach. Meanwhile, the Texans might be a different story, but their head coach was mum on the idea.
