Ravens sign Adedayo Odeleye

Baltimore Ravens sign Adedayo Odeleye to a deal

The Ravens are always interested in solid pass rushers and as the team starts preparation for the Week 1 matchup at Kansas City, they’re adding to the roster.

Aaron Wilson reports that Baltimore is signing pass rusher, Adedayo Odeleye.

The 6’5″, 265-pound Nigerian-born prospect previously spent time with the Texans as part of the 2022 NFL International Player Pathway program. Nicknamed “Dayo”, he began playing American football at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom.

Ravens rookie DB Beau Brade switches jersey number

Baltimore Ravens rookie defensive back Beau Brade is switching uniform numbers ahead of the season opener vs. the Kansas City Chiefs

Beau Brade got from the muscle, going from a local undrafted free agent product to the Ravens’ 53-man roster and a potential role on a championship-caliber defense.

Brade can fill the alley on run plays or rush the quarterback as a Blitzer, and as the rookie prepares for a trip to Kansas City to face the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs, he’s switching jersey numbers.

Damarion Williams was waived, and after re-signing to the practice squad, Brade will move from No. 6 to No. 24.

Brade had an outstanding preseason, leading the Ravens in tackles with 19 total.  The former Maryland Terrapins safety is also a homegrown story. He grew up in Clarksville, MD, and attended River Hill High School.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta is prepared for growing pains with young, retooled offensive line

Baltimore Ravens GM Eric DeCosta is prepared for growing pains with young, retooled offensive line

The Ravens saw the decline last summer, decided to let two looming free-agent offensive linemen walk, and traded Morgan Moses to the New York Jets.

During his Thursday press conference, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta acknowledged that an offensive line imploding could take place, and it would ultimately set the franchise back.

Baltimore wanted a younger offensive line, and DeCosta acknowledged that there could be growing pains.

Starting left guard John Simpson exited, and the Ravens replaced him with Andrew Vorhees, a seventh-round pick out of USC who missed his entire rookie season while rehabbing a knee injury.

Talented right guard Kevin Zeitler (34) departed, and the younger and bigger Daniel Faalele was inserted.

After Morgan Moses was traded, former Washington Huskies stud Roger Rosengarten was drafted in the second round in April, and he looks like a future All-Pro.   Next Thursday night will see the offensive line feature three first-year starters, with Vorhees, Rosengarten, and Daniel Faalele inserted in critical positions and likely to see a lot of All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Baltimore is also adjusting to a new offensive line coach. George Warhop is joining John Harbaugh’s staff, replacing longtime offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris, who passed away from an “acute illness.”

Head coach John Harbaugh says he knows who the starters will be but has declined to announce them for strategic purposes.

Eric DeCosta discusses how Beau Brade earned his roster spot

As was learned on Tuesday, Brade made the Ravens’ 53-man roster. That means a UDFA has made the roster in 20 out of the last 21 years.

Beau Brade is an easy guy for Baltimore Ravens fans to root for. The undrafted free agent rookie safety is a Clarksville, MD native who played his college ball at the University of Maryland.

As was learned on Tuesday, Brade made the Ravens’ 53-man roster. That means a UDFA has made the roster in 20 out of the last 21 years.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta met with the media on Thursday, and during his time at the microphone, he joked that had he been aware of the club’s UDFA streak, he would have kept one guy just to keep it going.

But Brade’s desire, motivation, and ambition are no laughing matter.

“That guy just really earned it,” DeCosta said of Brade.

“The Packers game, let’s face it, it was kind of a joke, it was hard to watch in a lot of ways, I couldn’t wait for it to be over, but the reality is that Beau played great, and he did consistently.

“He wanted the job, he took the job, and in the end he really deserved it.”

Brade is one of the Ravens’ most feel-good stories of the summer. DeCosta pointed out that the 31-7 preseason game loss at the Packers was not.

Former Ravens offensive guard Tashawn Manning signs to Bengals practice squad

Tashawn Manning is taking his talents elsewhere, staying in the AFC North as he’s signing to the Bengals practice squad.

Manning was one of the final roster cuts on Tuesday, and chose to join Cincinnati rather than return to Baltimore.

The former SEC star Played in 42 career games with 26 starts in five seasons at Auburn and one at Kentucky.

Why was the Ravens 53-man roster release so late?

Once again Baltimore was among the last of the teams to make their announcement, and we may have found the potential reason for this.

The Baltimore Ravens are known for being extremely late to the annual roster release party. They did it again on Tuesday night, announcing their initial 2024 53-man squad long after the league’s supposed deadline.

Once again, Baltimore was among the last teams to announce, and NBC Sports Pro Football Talk has apparently uncovered the potential reason for this.

PFT’s sources told them there was an “apparent issue with the waiver wire, the league’s daily document listing all moves,” before explaining that

“Although the transactions appear in the league’s internal database, the teams haven’t announced the moves.”

We’re all familiar with the “deadline” of 4 p.m. EST, which is for the teams to communicate their roster moves to the league. There is no mandate for when they have to inform the public.

The Ravens weren’t alone in taking their sweet time on this, either. The reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New York Giants likewise dragged their feet on releasing the news of their final cuts to the public.

Should the Ravens have interest in QB Tyler Huntley after he’s released by Browns?

Cleveland Browns release former Baltimore Ravens QB Tyler Huntley

The Baltimore Ravens will enter the 2024 NFL season with just two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, but a familiar face is available heading into Week 1.

Mary Kay Cabot is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have released former Ravens Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley. The team will move forward with Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the backup quarterbacks on the roster as it prepares for its Week One matchup with the Cowboys.

Huntley signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2020. After season-ending injuries to Jackson, Huntley took over as the team’s starter to finish the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He almost succeeded in leading Baltimore to an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs.

Through four seasons with the Ravens, Huntley completed 221 passes for 1,957 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Veteran cornerback Ka’Dar Hollman is returning to the Ravens, re-signing with the team to join their practice squad.

Hollman was one of the final roster cuts on the way to Baltimore trimming down to 53 players.

The 29-year-old Hollman is a former sixth-round pick of the Packers. He played in 17 games for the Texans last year, starting one.

Ravens to sign WR Dayton Wade to the practice squad

Baltimore Ravens sign WR Dayton Wade to the practice squad

A fan favorite is staying in Baltimore, as rookie wide receiver Dayton Wade re-signed to the practice squad less than 24 hours after being a roster cut.

Wade was explosive during the preseason, and had some experts predicting he might earn a roster spot.

Wade displayed big-play potential all summer, including a 56-yard touchdown catch against the Falcons. With Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor as the core three, Wade could not overtake Tylan Wallace, Deonte Harty, and Devontez Walker.

Wade caught 27 passes for 390 yards and two touchdowns during his last season at Ole Miss.

Ravens to sign edge rusher C.J. Ravenell to the practice squad

Baltimore Ravens sign C.J. Ravenell to the practice squad

C.J. Ravenell is an attractive small school product, and the Ravens are signing the edge rusher to the practice squad.

Ravenell was one of the final cuts on Tuesday’s roster deadline.

Ravenell had 45 tackles, 11 for loss, and three sacks at Missouri Western in 2023. He participated in the Ravens minicamp as a tryout and has earned a spot on the roster.
