Cassius Winston will leave Michigan State as one of the greatest players in program history, and a whole lot of what ifs, but he is not focused on what could have happened this year if the COVID-19 pandemic did not prevent the 2019-20 NCAA Men’s Basketball season from concluding. He is instead focused on the positives of his time at MSU, and on Tuesday he posted a letter he wrote to the University, and to fans, reflecting on his experiences and how they helped him grow as a player and as a man.
Here is a short, emotional excerpt from the post:
“To my fans, my teammates, my coaches, thank you. Thank you for sticking with me, thank you for being there for me when it was tough, thank you for being by my side. It was amazing.
My time here at Michigan State has been great and I credit all to you guys. I couldn’t do it by myself. I couldn’t do it without a family to embrace me. I appreciate everyone who had a part of this journey. I appreciate everyone who pushed me, who got me better, who motivated me.”
