The Ohio State alumni team known as Carmen’s Crew beat the Purdue alumni team, Men of Mackey, in a second-round matchup 80-69 on Sunday to advance to the third round.
The game started out on a slow offensive pace and was pretty close throughout the first half, with Carmen’s Crew leading at halftime 29-21 thanks to a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Jeff Gibbs. Things were much different in the second half. Carmen’s Crew went on a run thanks to the scoring and play of Gibbs and William Buford, and the three-point shooting of Jon Diebler.
Buford had a big game again, leading all scorers with 19 points. He also led the team in rebounds with seven. Jeff Gibbs (11) and Evan Ravenal (10) also finished in double figures for Carmen’s Crew.
