When the Nets were reportedly in on Jrue Holiday, Caris LeVert was thought to be one of the players Brooklyn would need to send to New Orleans in a deal. The James Harden talks also led to LeVert’s name being thrown around.
Holiday has since been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, Harden and the Rockets just welcomed John Wall to Houston and LeVert was able to talk about seeing his name constantly popping up in trade rumors on a Zoom call Wednesday as Brooklyn continued forward with its training camp.
“Whatever happens, happens. I just try to think about it like that,” he said. “Whatever happens, it was meant to be and it’ll happen that way. So I don’t stress myself out over it.”
Still, LeVert couldn’t help but notice his name being mentioned frequently, as much as he tried to ignore the commotion.
“It’s part of the business. They tell you that from Day 1, coming into it,” the guard said. “Nobody is irreplaceable. guys get moved every single year. For us, we just have to be prepared for any situation. I try not to pay attention to them, but it’s kinda hard when you turn on the tv and you see certain things, you turn on your social media [and] you see certain things. I just worry about the team, myself, putting in work every day and trying to maximize my potential.”
Luckily for LeVert, he was able to talk with Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks throughout everything.
“I talk to Sean a lot,” LeVert said. “Couple times a week, so those things definitely come up. He’s an open book when it comes to that type of stuff. Him and I have a great relationship. If something does happen, I feel like I’ll know about it, I feel like he’ll tell me. But other than that, we’re kinda just focused on what we have going on right now.”
