Cardinals to cut S James Wiggins

The Cardinals hope to bring back the 2021 seventh-round pick back to the practice squad.

The Arizona Cardinals’ 53-man roster is taking shape with more player cuts getting announced. According to PFF’s Doug Kyed, the Cardinals are releasing safety James Wiggins.

It is believed that, if he clears waivers, he will be re-signed to the practice squad.

Wiggins was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh round a year ago out of Cincinnati. He did not initially make the roster last year, either. However, he did make the practice squad and appeared in three games, playing on special teams, before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

He played a lot in the preseason and had ups and downs, but the team is high on his future as a special teams player on punt team.

With Wiggins’ release, it opens the door for perhaps Tae Daley to make the team at safety.
