Cardinals to be cautious about Jalen Thompson’s return

It sounds like he will be a game-day decision as to whether he plays on Monday night against the Cowboys.

The Arizona Cardinals designated safety Jalen Thompson for return from injured reserve this week, which allowed him to practice. It appears the team will reactivate him over the weekend so he is eligible to play Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

However, it isn’t a sure thing that he will play.

“We want to smart with him to make sure he feels great and can do what he does out there,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Saturday. “We’re going to continue on the next couple of days and see where it ends up. I’m sure he’ll be out there Monday night trying it early and then we’ll take it from there.”

Thompson has missed four games and got hurt two snaps into the season.

If he is going to try and play Monday, it suggests the Cardinals plan on reinstating him to the roster. After that, it will be a case of whether or not he is active for the game.
