Cardinals TE Trey McBride named Mountain West Male Athlete of the Year

The third-round rookie adds to his college accolades.

The Arizona Cardinals were excited to select tight end Trey McBride with the 55th pick in the 2022 draft, the first of their two third-round selections.

He was considered the top tight end in the nation last year and won the John Mackay Award, recognizing him as such. He was Colorado State’s first-ever unanimous All-American.

He adds another honor, as he was named the Moutain West’s 2021-2022 Male Athlete of the Year, the university announced Wednesday.

McBride led the nation’s tight ends in receptions (90), yards (1,121), and yards per game (93.4). He became CSU’s all-time and single-season leader in receptions and yards among tight ends, and the yardage total was the fifth-most in a single season by an FBS tight end and the most in Mountain West history.

He is only the third CSU athlete to win the conference athlete of the year award.

The Cardinals knew they were getting a talented player. They believe they are getting a great person in the locker room.

There is a lot to be excited about with McBride.
