Cardinals sign former Texas Tech WR Antoine Wesley

The 6-4 Wesley caught 88 passes for 1,410 yards his final year at Texas Tech when Kliff Kingsbury was head coach there.

The Arizona Cardinals had a pair of roster spots open after cutting a pair of players following last week’s rookie minicamp. One of those vacancies has been filled by a player familiar to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

The Cardinals announced Friday they signed receiver Antoine Wesley, who played collegiately at Texas Tech when Kingsbury was head coach, to a one-year contract.

Wesley went undrafted in 2019 and spent the last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He was on the practice squad in 2019 and spent all last year on injured reserve.

He is long at 6-foot-4 and 206 pounds. He had a huge 2018 season his final year in Lubbock, catching 88 passes for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns.

He does not have long speed — his 40 time at the combine was only 4.68 seconds — but has good quickness for his size. He lacks strength.

He will battle for one of the last receiver spots on the roster this offseason.
