Cardinals select CeeDee Lamb over Jeff Okudah in new mock draft

Bucky Brooks has Okudah falling all the way to the ninth overall pick.

Another mock draft is out and has the Arizona Cardinals taking a wide receiver, but this set of projections has them taking one in an unlikely scenario. This comes from NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks.

He has the Cardinals taking Oklahoma receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Kliff Kingsbury adds more firepower to the Cardinals’ offense by reuniting Lamb with his college QB. The Kyler Murray-Lamb connection instantly gives the Cardinals’ offense more sizzle and explosiveness.

There is nothing surprising about a mock draft pairing the Cardinals with Lamb. What makes this mock draft surprising is the player the Cardinals pass on.

Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah is still on the board.

Okudah is typically taken in the first five picks of almost all mock drafts but offensive linemen come off the board early, as Alabama’s Jedrick Wills goes fourth overall and Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs goes fifth overall.

The Cardinals do not appear to have a need at cornerback with Patrick Peterson, Robert Alford and Byron Murphy all returning. However, Murphy struggled as w rookie and Alford is coming off a broken leg.

It seems unlikely that general manager Steve Keim would pass on as good a prospect as Okudah is at a premium position.

Keim has said he places extra value on positions like cornerback.

If this scenario happens on draft night, it seems unlikely the Cardinals would take Lamb over Okudah.
