Cardinals return to Arizona after preseason game vs. Saints canceled

The team had already departed on their flight to New Orleans before the announcement to cancel the game was made.

The Arizona Cardinals had their preseason finale on the road against the New Orleans Saints canceled. Originally scheduled for 5 p.m. Arizona time, it was moved up to 10 a.m. Arizona time. It has since been canceled due to the pending impact of Hurricane Ida in the area.

By the time the Saints made the decision to cancel the game, the Cardinals had already departed for New Orleans on their team flight.

Did they fly all the way there?

No. The team announced that with the cancellation, their flight was diverted back to Phoenix. With training camp over, they will get to return home to their families until they return to practice on Monday.

The Cardinals will be safe at home. We hope that everyone in and around New Orleans can be safe in the wake of the hurricane.
