The Arizona Cardinals begin to prepare for their Week 7 home game against the struggling Houston Texans. They will hit the practice field for the first time on Wednesday.
While the first injury report of the week has not yet come out, so we don’t know what the staus of a few players are, but we can see where the Cardinals have some concern, based on the players they protected this week on the practice squad.
On Tuesday’s NFL transactions report, it showed the Cardinals protected three players from being signed off the practice squad this week.
They protected defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter, tight end Ross Travis and offensive lineman Danny Isidora.
All three were elevated to the roster last week and played.
The Cardinals only have seven offensive linemen on the roster so they will need to elevate one to have eight active for the game.
Tight end Darrell Daniels has a hamstring injury, so Travis might be needed to fill the role of the team’s third tight end, while with Peters and Allen on the COVID list and Rashard Lawrence having injured his calf, Ledbetter might be needed again.
Teams can protect up to four players on the practice squad each week. We will see if they designate another player later in the week for protection.
