Cardinals projected to take WR in early 2023 mock draft

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar projects right now that the Cardinals will select Pitt WR Jordan Addison, who had 100 catches for 1,593 yards in 2021.

Is it already mock draft season even though the 2022 NFL draft was just over a week ago? Not really, but because the 2022 draft is over, there are already some super early 2023 mock drafts.

Why?

One reason is to project who the top college players will be and what needs NFL teams could have next year.

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar put together a “are you kidding me” way-too-early mock draft for 2023.

He has the Arizona Cardinals projected to have the 21st overall pick, which means making the playoffs and losing in the first round.

He has them projected to select Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison.

Addison is 6-0 and 175 lbs. He caught 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2021.

Taking a receiver in the first round a year from now would be an interesting use of the pick. They used their first-round selection this year to trade for receiver Marquise Brown. They also used a second-round pick in 2021 to select receiver Rondale Moore.

Receiver is quickly becoming a premium position but if they are looking at the receiver position again in the first round next year, we are going to wonder what is happening.
