Cardinals plummet in new power rankings after loss to Rams

The fall five spots and now the Redskins and Dolphins are ahead of them.

For several weeks, despite losing close games, the Arizona Cardinals found themselves climbing slightly in weekly power rankings. After a 34-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13, that changed.

In USA TODAY’s new weekly power rankings, the Cardinals dropped five spots.

They fell all the way to No. 29 in the league.

Inevitable “Air Raid” offense would eventually kill Air Raided defense, now ranked dead last after surrendering nearly 500 ypg over past five outings.

The Cardinals are now behind teams like the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins, both of whom have three wins on the season.

Who are the teams below the Cardinals? The Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals.

As for the rest of the NFC West, the Los Angeles Rams moved up from 14th to 13th after beating Arizona. The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are No. 3 and No. 4.

The division continues to have two top-five teams, three top-15 teams and then the Cardinals.
