Cardinals open as home underdogs vs. Chiefs in Week 1

The Cardinals are 3.5-point underdogs in their season opener against the Chiefs as lines open for Week 1.

The Arizona Cardinals will open the 2022 NFL season at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. It will be the first time Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury faces the Chiefs.

The Cardinals last faced Kansas City in 2018 and lost on the road 26-14.

It will be the first time that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is on the field again with Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury since both were at Texas Tech. Kingsbury was Mahomes’ head coach there.

Tipico Sportsbook released the lines and odds for Week 1 NFL matchups and the Chiefs are favored in the opener against the Cardinals.

The Chiefs are -160 the money line. That gives them 61.54% implied odds of winning the game outright. A $160 bet on the Chiefs would win $100 if they simply beat Arizona.

The Cardinals are +130 on the money line. That gives them 43.48% implied odds of winning the game. A $100 money-line bet on Arizona pays $130 if the Cardinals win.

The Chiefs are -3.5 (+102) against the spread. A $100 ATS bet on the Chiefs will win $102 if they beat the Cardinals by at least four points.

The Cardinals are +3.5 (-125) against the spread. A $125 ATS on the Cardinals pays out $100 if they win, tie or lose by no more than three points.

The projected total is set at 53.5 points, with the Over priced at -105 and the Under at -115. A $105 bet on the Over wins $100 if the Cardinals and Chiefs score a combined 54 points or more. A $115 bet on the Under wins $100 if they score a combined 53 points or less.

Between the regular season and postseason the Cardinals were 11-7 straight up, 10-8 against the spread and 8-10 O/U.

The Chiefs were 14-6 straight up, 10-10 ATS and 12-8 O/U.
