Cardinals now projected to receive three compensatory picks in 2022

They are expected to get a fifth-round pick and two seventh-round selections.

Early projections had the Arizona Cardinals slated to receive three compensatory selections in next year’s NFL draft, based on gains and losses in free agency this year. Now that the compensatory period of free agency has passed, the Cardinals are still slated for that many.

According to Over the Cap’s projections, which are consistently accurate, Arizona is set to receive a fifth-round pick and a pair of seventh-round selections.

The fifth-round pick would be from cornerback Patrick Peterson signing a deal as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings.

The other pair of seventh-rounders are compensation for losing defensive lineman Angelo Blackson and tight end Dan Arnold.

The Cardinals will benefit from the extra picks. They are already down their fourth-round pick, as they gave it up in the trade to move up to the fourth round last weekend and select cornerback Marco Wilson.

They were not awarded any compensatory selections for the 2020 draft.
