Cardinals move up a spot in new Week 16 power rankings

The Cardinals’ competitive loss gives them a bump in new power rankings from Touchdown Wire.

The Arizona Cardinals lost for the 11th time this season on Sunday in a 45-29 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. They were competitive, though, and that showed in their new spot in the latest NFL power rankings from Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey for Week 16.

The Cardinals, who were No. 28 after the bye week entering Week 15, moved up a spot to No. 27.

The Cardinals may have inferior talent to the 49ers, but they fought like hell for 60 minutes, and made the game interesting in the first half.

The Cardinals did have a season high in yards and points, doing it against one of the best defenses in the league, although the Niners were missing their two best starting defensive tackles.

Tight end Trey McBride is becoming a star. Running back James Conner continues to be productive.

However, the defense is incapable of stopping top-end talent.

Next up are the Chicago Bears, who have only five wins on the season.
