Cardinals expected to give Aaron Glenn 2nd interview for head coaching job

Glenn appears to be the first of the remaining candidates who will get a second meeting with the Cardinals.

The Arizona Cardinals could be ready to move on a new head coach. After bringing in three new candidates to interview this week, they appear ready to start the process of a second round of interviews.

One candidate expected to get a second interview is Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, after Glenn has his second head coaching interview with the Indianapolis Colts. The meeting could be formal or informal.

Glenn has been the Lions’ defensive coordinator for two seasons.

The Lions did not have a great statistical season defensively. They finished 28th in scoring defense, allowing 25.1 point per game, and they were last in total defense, allowing 392.4 yards per game. However, they did make strides over the final half of the season.

They allowed 19.5 points per game and 351.2 yards per game over their final six contests, holding opponents under 300 yards three times.

Before his stint with the Lions, Glenn coached defensive backs for the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints from 2014-2020.

The other candidates still in contention for the Cardinals’ vacant head coaching position are current defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.
