Cardinals announce signing of S Kentrell Brice

Brice had 100 tackles in three seasons with the Packers.

After the release of undrafted rookie safety Reggie Floyd, the Arizona Cardinals were left with only five safeties on the roster. They bolstered the depth with some experience.

The team announced Wednesday the signing of safety Kentrell Brice.

Brice hasn’t played since 2018, but spent three years with the Green Bay Packers from 2016-2018 after making the team as an undrafted rookie. In three seasons, he played in 36 games, starting 14 He had 100 tackles, an interception and six pass breakups.

He spent the 2019 offseason and preseason with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was cut before the season and was not signed until this offseason, when he joined the Chicago Bears, who cut him last week.

The 5-11, 200-pounder will likely compete for a backup spot at safety, as Pro Bowler Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson are slated to start. The Cardinals also have 2019 fifth-round pick Deionte Thompson and special teams aces Charles Washington and Chris Banjo also on the roster.
