Cardinals add veteran nose tackle, sign Antwaun Woods

Woods has been in the league since 2016 and played most recently for the Indianapolis Colts.

The Arizona Cardinals brought in a trio of defensive tackles for workouts on Thursday and have reportedly signed one of the players.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and per the player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, the Cardinals signed veteran nose tackle Antwaun Woods to a one-year contract.

Woods is 6-1, 318-lb nose tackle who has been in the league since 2016. He entered the league as an undrafted rookie out of USC.

He has played for the Titans, Cowboys and, last year, for the Colts.

He has appeared in 47 games in his career, starting 32. He has 88 career tackles and 2.5 career sacks.

The Cardinals did not have any veteran depth at nose tackle. Rashard Lawrence is expected to start but the Cardinals have no proven depth behind him.

Corey Peters has been that player since 2015 but remains unsigned.

When the Cardinals announce the signing, they will need to make a corresponding move to keep the roster at the 90-man limit.
