The Iowa Hawkeyes are no stranger to producing NFL stars and early round draft picks. It is evident by the recent successes seen by Sam LaPorta and Jack Campbell on the Lions, Lukas Van Ness on the Packers, Dane Belton on the New York Giants, Tristan Wirfs on the Buccaneers and even more seasoned NFL veterans.
Next in line for the Hawkeyes on the path to the NFL is star cornerback and punt returner Cooper DeJean. Sadly, for Hawkeye fans, DeJean’s days in the black and gold are likely numbered. His talent is too great to stick around. He is destined for the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.
As a star in college football already, it is only right DeJean puts a star on his helmet at the next level. CBS Sports’ most recent mock draft has Cooper DeJean going to America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Could there be a better landing spot than here for DeJean? This would set him up for immediate success, and the Cowboys are among one of the league’s best defenses already. Diggs and Bland are ballhawks like DeJean. They have combined for 26 interceptions and four interceptions returned for touchdowns in their careers.
DeJean is the ideal candidate to join a secondary that plays his electric, ball-hawking football style that makes teams pay. Cowboys defensive coordinator is known for his superb secondaries dating back to when he built “The Legion of Boom” in Seattle and has continued that trend in Dallas.
DeJean has set himself up for NFL success and a first-round draft selection with his play on Iowa’s defense. The final stretch for the Hawkeyes offers more chances for him to climb draft boards.
